Morning, I'm looking into another 1911 style 10mm. Ideally, I would like Sigs P220 Hunter Kryptek Typhon 10mm, but am struggling with the 13 to 15 price tag. I currently have the RIA Rock Ultra FS HC - 10mm, and think it's time for another 10. I am looking to spend $900 - $1,200, any ideas would be great
Thanks
Ken
I'd just spend a little bit more and get what you really want.
A P220 is not a 1911 style...but https://www.gunbroker.com/item/874567419
On the other hand, I would suggest a Ruger SR1911 in 10mm is also a solid option, and is under your budget by about $100.
I realize that, but if I didn't get the Sig, I would like something along the lines of my RIA
Thanks
Ken
The more I read about the P220, the more I like it 😀

The more you shoot one the more you will like it also.
That has been my experience.
I really like my Kimber TLE II in 10mm. Front grip strap checkering, night sights, very accurate, and it eats everything I feed it. The current one may come with a fiber optic front sight. Excellent trigger, too. The only thing that you'll need to add is an ambi safety.
Broke down and ordered the P220 Hunter 😀😀😀
Sweet! Look forward to a range report.
How does your first RIA Rock Ultra FS HC - 10mm shoot?
Very nice for a $700.00 dollar weapon, I recently replaced the springs with Wolff springs and added a flat bottom firing pin stop / 25lb mainspring, and hope to get out today. Also, it is surprisingly reliable and accurate
Thanks
Ken
Kind of a rough time to be looking for any bargains. Everything is running at a pretty hot premium these days. So if you can, might be wise to wait it out a little bit.
IF things ever return to normal again...... I'd suggest giving a Dan Wesson Razorback some consideration. I know, I gush on them a little too much but that's just how impressive they are.
A year ago they could be found new for around $1,200 and gently used examples found for around $1k. Some reported seeing used models well below that level, although I looked a lot and never did.
Absolutely, a friend wanted to order a Sig P220 Hunter like I am picking up Friday. My shop told him it could be 2-6 months before they could get one in. Between high prices and availability, it's for sure a tough time

Interesting. Here in Montana it's just business as usual...the display cases are full of guns with the same pricing, near as I can tell. One gun store told me that I'd be lucky to get a SRO in six months, and then I drove a mile down the road and bought one off the shelf at a sporting goods store at a very good price. Seems like maybe some shops are over-hyping the shortages to justify higher prices.
There was a run on 9mm and 5.56 ammo a few months ago, but that's just the usual stupid hoarding behavior, right up there with hoarding toilet paper. I don't shoot the former and have plenty of the later, so I just laughed, remembering all the "experts" who advised sticking with NATO calibers because there'd always be plenty of ammo to feed them.
yea, seems like certain Sig models are the only thing short in our area, but when looking online, many places are out of the P220 Hunter for some reason, as well as most places charging $1,300 - $1,600, with the $1,300 something being about the best I've seen
Enjoy it while it lasts Muskrat. Local gun stores around here are very picked over and what is left is anything but discounted.
As of today..... 9mm, 223/556, 45 acp range ammo if you can find it is starting at the $.50 and $.60 per round threshold and going up sharply from there into the $.75 to $.80 or higher. Range ammo.... FMJ.... Watered down, weak sauce, training rounds. Nuts but true.
I'm in good shape and not stressed at all but can't help but notice how ridiculously inflated everything is now.
yep, price gouging is totally unacceptable
Well, supply and demand is inherent to the capitalist system, and it's not like range ammo is on the same level of necessity as medicine or food, but ya, it's unfortunate. On the other hand, why would a store accept a minor profit on a product in limited supply with a huge demand? So it costs someone more to go target shooting...big deal. Business is business.
I was wondering the other day how much of the supply deficit (of ammo) has to do with consumers hoarding, and how much of it is driven by suppliers and retailers restricting the flow to drive up the price. I don't have any idea, but it's curious to me.
No doubt some will blame the 'gubment. I listen to these people and thing, ya, the same government that approved the Shockwave, Banshee, and dozens of other weapons that are in direct conflict with existing federal firearm laws, but which somehow doesn't want anyone to own firearms or ammo...right. :)) :)) :))

I have to disagree. Willing buyer & willing seller = sale price. Supply goes down, price goes up, and vice versa. The cure for high prices is high prices. Suppliers will attempt to provide more supply to take advantage of that and the price drifts down. The cure for low prices is low prices. Suppliers will provide less supply and the price goes up. Of course if there is some artificial control involved not involving the free market none of this works but I've not seen that. The .22 rimfire market went through this some time ago, with much suspicion of manipulation, and the high prices brought more supply and down the prices went.
My recommendation would be to look for a Dan Wesson. Even a used 1, as most used guns are safe queens. Start out with a Dan Wesson Razorback, and maybe trade up in awhile.
Thanks terdog, ended up getting a non-1911, a Sig P220 Hunter in 10mm. Despite the low capacity, this weapon is amazing
