Just wanted to post this here. If anyone is looking for 200gr Gold dots for reloading, Rocky Mountain Reloading has them. They say they are brand new blemished but from the photos probably just the older style bullet they are trying to move.

Thanks, guess it all depends on how blemished they are..and welcome by the way!
Ken
Thanks Ken,
I put some on order. Who knows when I will get them but when I do I'll post some pictures. I've been out of the 10mm game for a few years. Dove back in with a P220 Legion and reworking loads in the gun.
dang! I just ordered a bunch of .40 180gr. HST pulled bullets. American Reloading has them back in stock. 0ther .40 bullets too.
Checked them out. Under description it states:
These are brand new premium bonded bullets. They were sold to us as blems and we were asked not to divulge who made them but they are quite easily recognizeable as one of America's most popular self defense bullets.
Does anyone have any blue dot loads worked up for these?
BD, Lol, one of my all time favorites, I'm sure some of the others can help you out. As for a 180gr XTP or HAP, 10.4gr's is the ticket for accuracy. nothing hot, but man, they are way more accurate than I am.
Ken
I have used 10.5 grains Of Blue Dot from my guns with good results. However I have loaded them with 9.4 grains of Longshot, 8.4 grains of BE-86 and also 9.4 grains of IMR800X.
I can get more velocity with the Longshot but the BE-86 is my carry load of choice!
Thanks guys. Shadow I'm assuming you had better accuracy with the BE86 than with the long shot, IMR800X or the blue dot?

They were all fairly accurate given the performance level, the reason for the BE-86 is for the flash suppressed properties.
Where exactly do all these "pulled" bullets come from, anyway?

good question. they sure sell enough of them!
I don't think these are pulled. Should be brand new.

Any idea how fast 8.4gr of BE-86 is pushing these 200gr bullets?
I clocked them at 1237 fps with 8.4 gr BE-86 from the S&W1006 5"
The bullets showed up faster than I thought. They look good. They don't look like pulled bullets but more like new old stock. I weighed a few from the bag with weights varying from 199.7gr to 201.1gr
Can't wait to load up some these over Longshot and see how they do.

Mine arrived and they appear to be new as well.
Yup...look like old stock for sure.

Just got 500 in the other day. No pull marks detected, but I didn't expect any.
They are not shinny bright, just a tad dull. That is what I think is the "second".
I'm not going to bother cleaning them.
Ordered 500 yesterday, they haven't been shipped yet. I just got my first 10mm last May (Ruger GP100) and only have loaded up 165 gr. for competition. I just bought some 200 gr lead bullets but haven't tested any loads yet. It is difficult to find any quality JHP's these days so I'm happy these were mentioned here.
It's a deal, I got some, I never thought you can't or it suggested not pushing these really hard due to weight, but believe I can make some "real" 10mm ammo with them :)

My recent load for the 200 gr Gold Dots I did was using BE-86 powder for its flash suppressed properties.
I tested at 8.4 grains making 1235 fps and dropped to 8.3 grains making 1220 fps...
SPEER 200 grain Gold Dot-HP
8.3 grains BE-86
CCI 300 Large Pistol Primers
Velocity 1220 fps COAL 1.2550"
I know that Longshot and IMR800x can make more velocity but it is what it is...
SPEER 200 grain Gold Dot-HP
9.2 grains LongShot
CCI 350 Large Pistol Primers
Velocity 1230 fps COAL 1.2550"

Magnum primer for the LongShot loading?
Yes I was using the 350 CCI magnum primers for better burn with the dense LongShot powder
Hodgdon and Hornady load data for Longshot uses Winchester Large Pistol, which is a multi-purpose standard/magnum primer. WLP primers are reported to generate a little less pressure than other magnum primers, if you use Hodgdon and Hornady data along with WLP primers you should be safe. If you use other magnum primers and other data just be aware that as you get to the high end of the load you may be exceeding the pressures (and velocity) of the published data. I have been using Fed large magnum pistol primers lately because that's what I could get, but I use them in a rather low powered load to meet 120 power factor for ICORE. 5.2 gr of Power Pistol with a magnum primer is 30 fps faster than the same load with a standard Fed primer. I'm not trying to discourage you, part of the fun of reloading is experimentation, but be aware of the potentials and have fun.
