I usually carry extra mags in cargo pants pockets. I do have some IWB holders but ideally I like to just have my gun inside my belt. I was thinking it would be nice to have a mag in a concealed belly band or something similiar but I would like it to not be velcro I think. Anyone have creative ways you carry extra mags?
Evening Bluebird, when going into , say a gas station or grocery store in our little town, I Just slip an extra 19rd mag in my front pocket. If I'm in the city, I'll do two Mags on my belt

I generally do not cary extra magazines...too much weight for too little need. But for those that do, consider that the strongest argument for doing so is that you need to either clear a jam or get more ammo in the middle of a life-and-death conflict. In that event, an extra magazine in your pocket or anywhere else you have to dig for it is of very little value.
For extra mags to be worth their weight they need to be carried in such a way as to be instantly accessible without conscious thought, just like the weapon. A practiced gunman has the weapon drawn and on the threat without breaking stride or pausing in their speech...muscle memory takes over and the gun is in hand and on target as if by magic. Retrieving and inserting a new magazine should be the same. For most people that means a belt mounted open-top mag carrier on the weak side. Not very "creative", but by far the fastest and most reliable access.
Where ever you decide to cary mags, practice until muscle memory is doing all the work...or just leave them in the truck like I do.
I very strongly favor Carhartt jeans with the extra utility pockets. The thigh pocket on the right is the perfect size for my cell phone, and the one on the left fits a spare double stack magazine.
I generally carry one extra mag in my off-hand front pocket as part of my usual EDC; I don't find a spare LCPII or P365 mag to be heavy enough to have to consider compromises to carry one. I have no intention to do tactical reloads during a gunfight or anything like that so quick access and training aren't a consideration for me, but I do like the idea of being able to re-holster a full pistol after the fact.
I'm really happy with the Ammo Armor sleeves sold by Sneaky Pete Holsters (might also be available elsewhere). They can take some dremeling to cut the length down and fit perfectly depending on what magazines you use them on because they're not really bespoke per model, but they do a great job keeping the lint and crap out of the mags.
@Keiichi
Those look nice, I will have to pick some up. For me the main reason to have an extra mag would be to reload after I mag-dump even if I didn't have to reload in the heat of battle. To survive I'd need to get some hits with the first mag most likely.
@Muskrat
Yeah if you are in a firefight best to have an open top carrier on your belt. I do have those. To be honest I'm more worried about ending it with the mag in the pistol but you know, in a rare circumstance I might not be dead yet and need to reload, and the quicker the better. I'd have to be in some deep sh*t to need that though, maybe shooting at bad guys behind a car or some cover, or mag dumping at long (for pistol) distance at a mass shooter (not very likely). Part of the reason I asked was the actual weight isn't a big deal to me but sometimes it can be if it's all on my belt ... but to conceal really depends what I'm wearing. What I usually do is if it fits my clothes I'll carry extra mags, and if not, I just take my pistol and its 16 rounds. I do need to train more with reloading as well.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Another option if you're carrying small is the Bug Bite calf/shin holster, which has a pocket for a spare mag. If I use it, it's on my opposite leg so that my LCPII sits against my shin bone, which diminishes the possibility of printing. The spare mag sits on the outside below my calf, so it's hidden completely. Easy and secure.
I usually choose this carry method for long drives or driving through city traffic where I'm at stop lights repeatedly, as pulling up my pant leg is very convenient sitting in my car - and much more comfortable than sitting on it at my waist, and much easier to draw than from my front pocket.
Definitely not a good option for anything larger, though; and not likely to work with skinny jeans.
I have matching mag pouches for all of my carry rigs. If there is a gun on my belt, there is also an extra mag on it as well.
I leave spare mags in my shooting bag, and never carried one. I figure if 12 rounds of .40 is not enough, another 12 isn't going to save me.

I do the same as well.
