Nice looking guns.  If we ever get to shoot together, bring it along and I will introduce my Garands.

Whose scope mount are you using on the M1A. Just curious....

Looks like a Bassett Machine scope mount.

Exactly right
It's the Bassett High Picatinny Mount
And I'm using the Burris, Low Xtreme Tactical Rings

Thanks. Not sure what I want to use on the Scout I have other than mounting a surplus Starlight I bought some time back. Supplier no longer has the mount for M-14/M1As.

Hey Ed:
I don't know the Scout all that well, but doesn't it have a Picatinny Rail built into the Hand Guard ?
If not, you may want to call and ask Springfield what they would do
Also, if you do go with a Reciever Mounted style Mount, will you leave the Optics on most of the time, or will you be mounting, removing and remounting it over and over ?
If you leave it mounted, I'd go with the Sadlak Mounts
If you will remove it and remount it over and over, then go with the Bassett
Just my $0.02

Thanks for the options on the receiver mounts. Scout does have the P rail with slightly shorter barrel........

The Starlight is a mil surplus Viet era night vision scope that required a proprietary mount.... so I'm not sure what else might be adaptable or not.

High Picatinny Mounts and Low rings? Sounds like an oxymoron.

But if it works good, that's all that matters!

The High Picatinny Mount allows you to use the Iron Sights too
If Burris made Xtra Low Xtreme Rings, I would have gotten them
