a potentially nice little camping weapon, depending it's reliability

Thanks for bring this up Ken.
Does anyone have any experience with this rifle? About 1/2 the price of a CMMG and just a little more than the Hi point carbine 10mm. (I know I'm comparing apples to oranges to bananas)

I looked into these in the past. They did not prove to be reliable...at all. I suspect you could custom-tune a load that would be more reliable, but I guarantee it wouldn't be full-house 10mm, and in doing so you loose the versatility of the cartridge.
Too bad...it's a nice, simple set-up. If it was as reliable as the Banshee I'd prefer it.
FWIW, the premiss of a airplane gun is a complete gimmick. I've got just over 2,600 hours of backcountry flying, both private and commercial, and I've never needed a long gun or thought that the weight was worth the utility. If I ever did decide one was warranted, it wouldn't be a PCC.
Great stuff to learn, Thanks Muskrat!
I have had mine for a couple of years now. I had to send it back once and did some polishing on the feed ramp after I got it back. It runs great now. Just my experience.
Thanks Ten2six, will have to give them a call to see, and (hopefully) find out how willing they are to deal with any problematic issues I may encounter. As for the price, it would be hard to beat providing it functions properly
Ken
I looked into those a couple of years back, before I bought my RWM 10mm carbine. Seems like they were having some teething problems at the time. One of the others I looked at was the Just Right Carbine in 10mm as they're about the same money. Both are blowback. The JRC is much tougher to clean. I have one in 9mm. The JRCs will run, but the only option is Glock mags.
The complaints I heard most often with the TNW were reliability, and the grip. You can replace the grip with a standard AR grip. It also didn't seem to be designed to get a lot of use. Others that have one may chime in on that.
There was a small company out of Wisconsin called Thureon Defense that also made a 10mm PCC that was a couple hundred more.
I believe the TNW and I know the JRC can be set up for left side ejection. A nice feature for lefties, like us.
Being left handed also, that was an added attraction for me As well. Unfortunately I couldn't get to run reliably in that configuration. So I switched it back.
Put together a nice email to TNW, and am looking forward to their reply

I don't know, think I'll stick with my MG20-M4

Ken what's the latest up date on the TWN. Looked at one in 45apc last weekend
Thanks
Still no response from TWN : (
i bought one last year in 10mm and haven't had any problems. It's built to take the heavy duty loads. I bought the 45acp conversion kit and it's rated for 45 Super as well and will also utilize the 460 Rowland with a barrel change which is way more power than the 10mm. You can also buy the conversion kits to shoot 9mm, 357 Sig, and 40 S&W. The reports I have seen with initial runs were problems in the 9mm platform but I think they have solved those problems. Right now I'm running mine as a 45acp and shooting Underwood 45 Super loads in it but will probably start shooting more 45acp ammo in it since I have a lot more of that than the 45 Super. I have the Underwood 45acp+P loads to shoot as well. It takes Glock mags and I have no problems with function.
I have one in 10mm, 40, 9mm, and 45. 10mm and 40 work great. 9mm not so much. I'm going to try some different buffers with the 9mm.
I have yet to try the 45 setup.
Oh, and yes Kenk, TNW support is horrendous. They just don't respond to email. You have to call them.
That's just awesome
I bought one in 45ACP several years ago, later converted it to 10mm, and now I'm converting it back to a 45. Why? Two reasons.....for one, this is a simple blowback carbine, and it is NOT built to handle the 10mm round, period. The other reason is that unless you only shoot factory ammo, it will stretch the brass, and sooner or later you'll have a round come apart in the chamber, and you're out of business until you get the front half of the brass out of there. If you don't reload that's not an issue, and anyone who keeps reloaded ammo on tap for Home Defense situations is an idiot, but if you like to shoot a lot you'll have issues with this carbine.
The violence of the Ten is just too much for this gun, my charging handle was bent rather severely from the bolt slamming backwards, then forwards as it slammed shut. Strong springs seem necessary to keep the gun from being damaged when it fires, but they also add to the issues.
I am having Ron Williams at RMWExtreme build me a DI 10mm carbine, I'm a lot more confident in his builds than I am with the TNW stuff. And ditto to the customer service issues with TNW, they promised me three times they'd send me a new charging handle, on the third try I got a hold of someone who actually followed through and sent me one. It was free, but it also took several months to get it.
I think the TNW stuff is fine in the milder calibers, but frankly there are very few guns made for the Ten that can actually handle it, and NONE of them are standard blowback guns. Just my dos pesos.

As a followup to my last post (see the last paragraph) I am awaiting delivery of a CMMG Banshee in 10mm, it should be here tomorrow, and I have to admit I'm more stoked about getting this gun that any other firearm in recent memory. I have a metric buttload of ammo loaded for it already, and the weather looks promising later this week, so I expect to get a lengthy range session in, and have a chance to get it really hoy and dirty and see what it can do.
Film at 11.
I know this is an old post but I just got my TNW ASR in 10 mm and took it to the range for a little test today. My first group after sighting it in was 0.78 inches at 50 yards for 5 shots from a sand bag rest. I put two 30 round mags through it after that just to shoot it. The weather was crap so I packed it in after that but I will go back tomorrow if the weather is better. So far, I really like it. It is already performing well with the stock trigger but I may spring for a match trigger and see if I can really tighten it up.
Update:
There is an issue with failure to eject (or eject fast enough to beat the bolt closing on it). Maybe one or two out of a 30 rnd mag will do that. There may be an easy fix that I will try though. According to some online stuff, shortening the buffer spring to allow the bolt to come back another 1/4 inch has solved the issue for some. Polishing the feed ramp should help too. I love the accuracy of this gun but the feeding issue is driving me nuts. The trigger is not the best; it's pretty mushy. I bought the "match trigger" but honestly I don't see any difference. I love the modular design as it is super easy and not that expensive to switch to any of a number of different calibers from 22 LR all the way to 460 Rowland and the accuracy is really good. If they could just fix the trigger and the ejection issues, they would have a truly great product.
When I took the buffer spring out, I found that the end nut on the stock was not installed correctly and will not come off. It has buggered up the threads a bit and the castle nut was already loose enough to spin by hand. I tried to call the company a little while ago but couldn't get anyone to pick up. Sadly, it seems maybe the support has not improved from some earlier posts by others on this thread.
I had a JR rifle in 9mm once about 10 or more years ago. It worked well but it was terrible to take down and clean as i remember I ended up selling it and built a AR 9 ( still have it ) Built a 300 Blk that has pretty much made the 9mm sit in the cabinet since. For me its pretty hard to beat the AR platform or even AK style for dependability and overall friendly use in any caliber. Just wish a major manufacture would come out with a 10mm glock mag gun.
Update 2: I sent the rifle back to TNW and it was delivered to them this past Tuesday. I will keep you updated when I get it back and if the problem was resolved. They were good on the phone and promised to make it right and they gave a follow-up call the next day to give me the return instructions.
