General Discussion / Future direction of the forum
June 30 2023 02:53:25 PM MDT
To all of our valued members,

Over the last couple years, our new memberships have really slowed down, and participation in the forums has become almost nonexistent. The nature of the internet has changed, new technologies have taken over and peoples preferences have changed.

With that in mind, I've decided to shut down the 10mm Firearms Forum. But don't worry, it's not going away completely.

I will be relaunching the site as a magazine style website, with guest authors and tons of articles on everything 10mm related. We'll have a comment section at the bottom of the articles for people to have their discussions.

A special thanks to our Admin and moderator team, without them I would have never been able to keep this going as long as I have. They will continue to have a place on the site as writers and guidance, if they wish.

I have no timetable for when I'll get started on this. Hopefully in the next few days or weeks.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: 10mm Commander sized pistols

Fusion makes a 10mm commander. I've never owned one, but I've shot my buddy's a few times. Pretty nice. You can find them under $1,000. Also the Rock Island Rock Ultra MS is Commander sized. Price is $750.

Sounds like your friend overcharged or double charged a round during reloading. It happens.

I've used underwood, buffalo bore, double tap, for years in my Glocks. Never had an issue.

The thing to know here is that the main part of the lawsuit was thrown out years ago. They weren't sued for making dangerous weapons. Apparently however, Remington violated a state of Connecticut law banning deceptive marketing. This is being run in the media as a major win for anti gunners but it's really not. This case was about marketing/advertising violations. The rest of the gun companies will now shift their marketing strategies to only hunting and self defense. Perhaps this will put an end to the "tacticool" military wannabe advertising.

Pretty sure this is the scale I bought last year, but haven't used yet. Ugh.

Just picked these up. Springfield XD-M full size and the new Elite compact. Both are 10mm.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: S&W M&P 10mm 4 inch in hand

For 20 years I've been begging for an American made 10mm, semi auto that IS NOT a 1911 with a manual safety. I've settled for foreign guns for a long time. Tanfoglio, Glocks, Springfield, etc have all done the job, but what I've truly wanted was a new Smith, Ruger or Colt. I prefer guns with a safety, I guess that's why I chose the Tanfoglio over Glock for so long.

This M&P is exactly what I've been waiting for. But damn I really like that new compact XD Elite for concealed carry. Might have to buy both.

Now I just have to convince the wife.

General Discussion / EAA no longer importing Tanfoglio?

I went looking to check out the EAA website since I hadn't visited in a while. I don't see any Witness pistols on their site at all. I checked out their 2022 catalog, no Witness pistols.

Did I miss something? I know I've been lost in my Springfield XD-M world for a while, but wtf happened?

California is writing a bill that copies the Texas abortion bill. This will allow any private citizen to sue the seller or manufacturer of "assault weapons."

My dream is to have a lever action 10mm. If I ever get the money, I'll have one converted for sure.

General Discussion / Re: Big thumbs up to Ruger!

I've heard good things about Ruger for as long as I can remember. My grandfather USED to sing their praises. Back in '79, he sent in his 1957 Blackhawk 44 mag for repair. He soon received a call from Bill Ruger himself. Mr. Ruger explained that the gun my grandfather had sent in for repair was one that Mr. Ruger had personally assembled, and he wanted to purchase it from my grandfather to keep. He told my grandfather to name his price. My grandfather didn't know what to say, so Mr. Ruger offered him one of the new Redhawk .44 Magnums, #7 off the assembly line, I believe. My grandfather received the firearm a couple weeks later, with a hand written letter from Bill Ruger.

I currently have this Redhawk and the letter in my safe.

Funny conclusion to this story: Bill Ruger is the father of the 15 round magazine laws. He personally lobbied congress to permanently ban all weapons and magazines over 15 rounds. My grandfather refused to purchase any more Ruger firearms for the rest of his life.

Miscellaneous 10mm Firearms / Re: Hi-Point 10mm Carbine
September 21 2021 10:23:59 AM MDT
To be honest, one has to expect to get what you pay for. It's $400. Does it fire every time I pull the trigger? Yes. Is it accurate? Yes. Is it pretty? Nope. It kind of reminds me of the old, clunky M-60 machine guns we had in the Navy. Heavy. Bad trigger. Heavily springed charging handle. For me, it serves a valuable purpose. I can have a carbine in the same cartridge as my carry handgun. I like the idea of carrying one type of ammo. It gets the job done. I can use and abuse it, drag it through the woods and not worry about damaging it.

I own two of them. A black one and a camo Realtree Edge. Both run flawless. After I got the first one I scrapped my plans to buy an AR15. I bought the 9mm version as well. They make great SHTF weapons. I only need to focus on two types of ammo. 9mm and 10mm. Makes things simple.

The 22 pound spring won't help much. Maybe 1-2 feet less.

This is common for the Witness and 10mm in general.

I bought a cheap photography backdrop and frame on Amazon for $50 and put it to my right to stop the brass from flying (if shooting outdoors).

Edit: the other link didn't have the frame. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08HYNV9T7/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pd_rd_i=B08HYNV9T7p13NParams&th=1
