Handguns / Re: Return of Colt Python .357 Magnum
June 13 2022 11:22:23 AM MDT
I recently picked up a new 6" Python. I'd say thumbs up. I had an 8" Python back in the day. Trigger is smooth and the fit/finish is incredible with ~25 rounds sent downrange. I won't mess with the trigger.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: What brass to avoid- sm primers?

It's interesting about the use of small primers for 10mm. For handloaders like us, it's an inconvenience.

I have a 20 year old Dillon 550 B (converted the C last year). This was after selling my RCBS ammomaster that I owned for ~10 years. Dillon and RCBS support have been 100% excellent in my many years of experience.
If you go progressive, I highly suggest the mind set of taking your time vs going as fast as you can. This goes for caliber changes/switching primer size. There is a lot going on with each throw of the handle and all it takes is a hiccup on primer feed to stop one in their tracks. Triple check the powder feed/charge weight before going full production and I like using a separate crimp die in the 4th station.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: 40 S&W ammo in 10 mm

I have shot 40s without issue in my DE. It was a mistake as I did not look close enough when packing for the range trip. Not alot of rounds ~25. Have not tried this in any other 10mms in my collection.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: End of year load testing.

OP, it's interesting about the results on the Xtreme plated bullets. Years ago I loaded some plated bullets and I think were over crimped. I swear, they were coming out of my Delta Elite barrel sideways, keyholes in my target at 10yds like a shotgun pattern (don't recall what the load was.....). I read an article in blue press about going with minimal crimp and have been mindful of this ever since but w 10mm I switched to jacketed bullets only. After reading your post, I will be open to try plated again. It would be interesting to see how plated compares to polymer coated.

10mm brass w small primer pockets? I have never heard of this. Sort of like 45 Gap, I guess(?).

10mm revolvers / Re: Uberti 1873 Cattleman Ursus 10mm

Hey Guys,
I spent some time shooting the Uberti side by side with the SW610 (handloads). In summary, the Uberti is a shooter. POI is a bit high and to the left. It will be interesting to get more range time to see how/if it changes with various loads. The 610 feels comparable but with better sights and smoother S/A trigger pull. Obviously huge difference in the grips between the two which makes for kind of a tough compare.

Thanks guys,
Flash can is definitely a possibility. Now I just find to find one in 10mm w 5/8-24 thread. Hopefully I can find one that will fit partially recessed in the handgaurd. This why I have been looking for a brake that will potentially be easier to get a wrench on it.
