Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: How much crimp for 10mm ?
March 28 2015 10:48:27 AM MDT
I have a Lee FCD. I've never used it for pass through sizing. I assume this operation is used to remove any bulge from the case head.?. How does one do a pass through resizing? Are any modifications or special equipment needed?

I have been very happy with my Para Elite LS Hunter. It has functioned flawlessly with a wide variety of factory and handloaded ammo. Light to heavy loads were gobbled up with no issues. Hollow points and flat points fed with no problem. The accuracy is as good and probably better than I can shoot. When I do my part the groups are are quite good, with all different loads. I thought the trigger was a little mushy/ creepy at first. After getting several hundred rounds through, I feel the the trigger has improved and "broken in." I was a little annoyed by some some machine marks and a small nick on the slide when I first unboxed the pistol. But, these imperfections were very minor and could be overlooked in light of how well the pistol shoots and functions. This is a great gun for the price point.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: 1911 springs

How much of a difference does the mainspring make? Is there any benefit to having a lighter or heavier mainspring / recoil spring ratio?

I'm sorry I've been away a few days. This post has gotten juicy... My problem with this bill is it's unconstitutional on multiple levels. Unless you are the worst of the worst gun grabbing lib prog, you should find this bill abhorrent. How can someone who has sworn to uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights propose this bill? Besides the 2nd amendment it is a violation of the 4th and 5th amendments. We are being attacked by the very people we elected to uphold the Constitution. Mob rule.

Wolfie, there's racists on both sides of the isle.
Shadow, There's nothing wrong with homosexuals, but it's been over-politicized and forced on people. The gov't needs to stay out of peoples bedrooms. (and gun safes)

It's stupid that our elected law makers waste time proposing these DOA bills. They just feel they have to keep coming up with new laws and regs to justify their existence.

I like the Rules For Radicals quote, Shadow. It's crazy that politicians have got as far as they have with those principles in our country.

How about this stinker of a bill? This, if made into a law, would let someone tell a gov't agency they think you're crazy and or dangerous. They could then come and take all of your guns and you would have to have a hearing to convince them to give your guns back. And you could not buy any guns until that hearing. I know this will likely never pass, but they keep throwing this crap at the wall hoping one will stick.

I've had some CFE for several months now and haven't used it yet. I need to get on that.  :)

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: 10mm Starline brass

I picked up 200 Starline at Cabelas a couple weeks ago.

I recommend getting a Lee Factory Crimp Die.  I had the same issue with some brass being below the trim to length, which makes uniform crimps hard to do. The Lee FCD don't care. I've had mine a short time, but after several batches, I'm very happy with it. Crimping is one of those things in handloading that's tricky for beginners. The Lee makes it almost fool proof.

The one shop I go to always has Trail Boss in stock. I finally decided to try some out.

They are full wad cutters. There is load data in the Lee manual listing o.a.l. at 1.330 for most loads. I was going to try 3.3 grains of Unique, as per the Lee, too.

Reloading / 357 mag with 148gr wc using Trail Boss
August 04 2014 04:12:29 PM MDT
I got a sample pack of 148 grain hardcast wad cutter bullets (.358 dia)  from a local bullet maker. Just purchased some Trail Boss for the first time, too.  Having trouble finding data for my bullet/ powder combo, though. I've never loaded wad cutters before, so I'm not sure about taking data from a similar weight bullet that's not a wad cutter given differences in seating depth. Any help or advice is appreciated.

Rifles / Re: CMP M1 Garand
June 15 2014 08:14:46 PM MDT
Thanks for the links, Shadow. The M1 forum looks quite extensive. I'll have to spend some time combing through it. I'm probably leaning toward the 30-06 just because I have a ton of brass from my hunting rifles and from shooting CMP competitions.  The guy who runs the CMP shoots at my club says he'll help me submit my paperwork and documents to get the ball rolling. I just need to get my money together. Maybe sell a gun or two. Plus my 40th birthday is in November. I'll get my girlfriend and family to pitch in. I'm hoping. I've wanted an M1 for so long and I'm going to make it happen. Like I did for a 10mm this year.
