I'm just a little worried about kimber heard their customer support wasn't very good. Is the razorback worth the extra $200. It has the same features as kimber. Although the frame/slide, barrel/bushing fit on tha dan wesson was by far better.

Mine also had the same problem. It only happened when I fire full power JHP. Was fine with FBI fmj loads put in 26# main spring, flat bottom firing pin stop, and Wilson combat slide stop. Problem solved. Didn't ping dust cover. I got lucky. Did you get yours back from armscor? What did the do to solve problem?

10mm semi-auto handguns / New Gun?? D.W vs. Kimber
March 09 2014 09:10:20 AM MDT
Looking for a new 10mm. My 1911 buddies are ragging on me because I'm not buy a 45acp. Lol. They just don't get it. Here is the deal. Already have a Rock VZ tactical2. I'm trying to decide between dan wesson razorback =$1249 and kimber custom tle2 =$1029. Handled both weapons. Shot only kimber. Just want some input. Your experiences with either one or both is appreciated. Not interested in any other gun so please keep it focused. For you polymer gun nuts I already own a Gen 4 in 10mm although would love glock to bring out the 41 in 10mm. Would buy one also.

The throwing of brass is characteristic of a 10mm I believe even with springs guys have said they were throwing brass 15 ft. Have done a lot of research on 1911forum and this one. It great to hear what other people with the same gun have to say.

Ya. You would be fine with the set up you have for factory loads. Probably pushing a 180 gram about 1100-1150 fps. Underwood  and some reloaders are pushing same bullet 1300-1400 fps. That's the reason for the springs and firing pin stop. For the hotter loads if don't have the springs and stop the push rod will start eating into the frame and you would start getting hammer marks on the top of your beaver tail. These are some of the things I was told.

The reason I believe for these adjustments is for buffering at the back half of the pistol. You covered the front of the pistol by having a heavier recoil spring. The rock in 10mm was springed as a 45. We are shooting a shell with 40% more pressures than a 45 if loaded to Norma specs. These were the down fall of the delta and of course a unsupported barrel which the rock has. My fingers are worth more to me than a 8 dollar spring and a 30$ firing pin stop. I'm just going off what others with more experience than me have suggested. Hope this helps. Just joined this site and have only just purchase my 10 mm 3 months ago, so this is a learning experience for me also. Great site by the way guys. Really love it!

I was told the recoil spring that came from the factory was a 16 because I was the same one they use in the 45 ACP. Talked with other people in different forums and this was the set up that works best in Rocks. It depends on what type of ammo your shooting. If you shoot FBI forty loads (Hornady, PMC, ect)you should be fine. If you shoot underwood, buffalo bore, ect. You should up spring pressures. Also was told a flat bottom fire pin stop was needed for hotter loads. Due to the fact that Rock Islands are set up on the 70 series firing system.

Also have one. Really love it for the money. Only thing you will want to do is 22# recoil,26# main spring. Good luck. Springs were under 18 bucks. Still a good deal. Accuracy is awesome. Full support bull barrel. Use chip McCormick mags. Using percision cartridge 180 JHP.
