Since you have Unique on hand try a load of about 7.0gr with a 180gr bullet. Makes a good target load that I used to use before I changed to Ramshot Silhouette. Of course I don't know if i will be able to get more of that.

I enjoy shooting GSSF matches with my 10mm gu ns. I shoot my 29 in major sub and my 20 in heavy metal. I used to also shoot my 20 in the guardian event but after winning a 17 I use it in that event to conserve brass.  Although sometimes I load 40s&w brass since I can pick it up at the range and losing it is not painful

Competition Shooting / Re: Steel shoot w/10mm AR

I had a problem with the steel targets at the GSSF shoot in Wellington, Ks this year. On the flying M stage the single hard set steel target kept falling with the single shot per stage and had to be reset each time. And in the falling plate event I had several plates fall over so hard they bounced back up! I still managed to win second place in the Heavy Metal event.

I used to use a load of 10.4gr BD in target loads at IDPA shoots at a local range in Wichita. My fellow shooters enjoyed the way my loads lit up the range and on the super close shots even scorched the cardboard targets! :o
Since then I have begun using Ramshot Silhouette powder and it works great for target shooting loads and full power loads. Much cleaner and no blinding flash.

From the description and photos of the bullet I would bet that they are using the Hi=tech coated bullets from Missouri bullet Company, I  have used several thousand of their 180gr  coated bullets and they are fantastic.

You could have told him that you were shooting light loads. My favorite load with XTP's is 11.2gr Blue Dot. They chonograph at 1245fps from my G29.

10.3gr of Blue Dot is pretty light. My favorite load that shoots best in my G20 is 11.2gr with a 180XTP and WLP primer. Chonographs at 1233fps from my 29 and 1294fps from my 20

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: 1006 and Blue dot

I shoot a lot of loads of 11.2gr Blue Dot behind 180gr XTP bullets and Montana Gold Bullets seated to 1.257 in my G20 and my G29 and they are the most accurate loads I find! How the Smith will handle them I don't know. Start at about 10.4  and ease your way up. :)

My EDC is my G29 or in the winter I may carry my G20

I can highly recommend the Federal Hydra-Shok load in 357. I used it for a carry load in my GP100 4" and it also did a nice job of dropping a whitetail buck at 90 yards! In a longer barrel it would do even better.

I am a long time Ruger fan and would love to have a 1911 from Ruger in 10mm and have considered converting my GP100 to 10mm.

Hello, my name is Byron. I am a 52 year old corrections officer here in southeast Kansas. I just discovered this site recently when it was mentioned on GlockTalk, 10ring. I have been shooting my G20 since I bought it from a friend back in early 2010. He had several Glocks that he was selling and I have loved the 10mm ever since! I even carried it concealed(I am 6'4'' and 300lbs so it was easy for me) until I was able to get a G29 in 2012. I shoot a lot, used to shoot IDPA with the G20 back in Wichita and now I mostly shoot USPSA and GSSF shoots.
