Reloading / Crimping bullets
December 20 2022 12:17:33 PM MST
I have been involved in a thread on another forum talking about crimping and after some prodding thought It might be nice idea to make a video on different style crimping.
Taper Crimp
Roll Crimp
LEE FCD
then Reddings excellent, Profile Crimp which is really just an improved or modified Roll Crimp. Its what I now prefer.

Sorry for missing your comment!!

I havent shot the gun in about a year. Im needing a complete knee replacement and that along with covid killed my 3gun shooting. I was still shooting steel matches where I didnt need ta run around but thats mostly with a pistol.

But the gun is and gas always been 100% and Id stake my life upon mine.

10mm semi-auto handguns / Re: 10mm 1911 for $400?

If I had the extra Id have a Giursan <sp> long slide 10mm.

Im really liking all the reviews. A buddy has one in Indiana and loves it.

It appears flimsy. Lead is HEAVY. Heavy and dangerous. My benchnis 4x4's and screwed to the wall with double 3/4" top and a 1/4" aluminum plate plus a secondary containment, tray should the lead "leak or spill".

IMHO, one cannot over build a proper bench.

I change dependent upon alloy and molds.

My main use pot has a PID and that runs @ 700-725. My Lino pot runs closer to 675. My pure lead pot is 750?

General Discussion / Re: High dexterity casting gloves
December 01 2022 12:39:58 PM MST
I dont wear gloves. Get ya in more trouble at worst times. Ill wear a glove when loading the pot or dumping sprue back in. Sometimes when Stiring. But find them a problem when casting. But I use a hammer
To open sprue not my hands.

I get occasional burns but no kore then in my work life welding.

Reloading / Re: G20 and Blue Dot

Blue Dot has always got me what I wanted for velocities.

Last year I started using Power Pistol and WOW WOW I'm impressed. My cast 200g bullet has past 1325 fps. I load it to about 1250 just for safety sake. I have zero reason to push so hard.

Give PP a try.

Good deal man!!  Thank you very much!

I have used longshot in the past but it became hard to locate so I stopped using it saving mine for shotgun slugs. But mow its been popping up and I grabbed a couple pounds so 8 will try it again. But I am really really liking power pistol!!   Im gonna try some @ 6.5 next.

Reloading / Re: Who is casting bullets?
August 08 2022 04:43:05 AM MDT
Good stuff guys!!

I stared casting in the mid/late '80's and havent looked back!! I havent bought jacketed for a handgun since about the time SSP/180's was discontinued by Hornady and even then, that was one of the last jacketed bullets I was buying.
For the last 5/6 years since picking up powder coating, my Cast does everything I could ever need. It also covers a good portion of my rifle needs with small calibers and levers.
