Range reports / Long Range Steel
July 02 2015 10:35:33 PM MDT
Last week with a customized Glock 20SF, (standard length KKM Barrel, Trijicon RMR, trigger job), we were banging steel at 130 yards every time... even head shots were not a problem.  So we stretched it out to 180 yards and with an 11 O'clock hold... the steel would ring no problem... The RMR makes all the difference when reaching out there...

Doug you have gone to a whole new level.... what kind of groups do you shoot with that setup... and with what bullet?

I use the Trijicon RMR red dot .... works great at night... pricy but don't plan on selling this gun... it is my home defense and pig gun... and the red dot gives you much more accuracy at distance... as for holsters... I have a Guides Choice Belt Holster... love it.  I have a Raven Concealment for my other Glocks and my 1911s... and love them... but wanted leather for my hunting rig....

I think you hit the nail on the head....  I have several 1911s and love them all... and especially my Ed Brown .45... BUT they are heavy and I find myself carrying the Glock a good deal more often because it is so much lighter... that is especially so in CA... where we do not have the freedom to put more than 10 rounds in a mag... so we are not burdened by the weight of the extra ammo that a Glock could carry in the other FREE states....

The trigger is the key to me which is why i have so long favored the 1911.... and still do.  But especially for hog hunting I like the 10mm better.... but the trigger job on this Glock is getting close to a good 1911..... close.....

I have always been a .45 fan...  1911s the way to go.  Until I wanted a 10mm and after much research I bought a Glock 20sf just because it seemed to get good reviews, sent it to Robbie Wheaton at Wheaton Arms to do his magic (KKM Barrel, slide cuts, trigger job, stipple the grip, undercut the trigger guard, add Trijicon RMR and grip force adapter)... all I can say is that for the last two months I haven't even wanted to get out the .45s... this thing shoots!  50 yards off hand, not a problem with the RMR...Double Tap 200gr hard cast bullets... here piggy piggy piggy.
