How small is the quarry in your "small game" category? I adore my Rossi Model 92 chambered in .357 S&W Magnum. This can be loaded with Buffalo Bore's 180-grain long flat-nosed, gas check cast bullet ammunition yielding about 1330 foot-pounds of energy at the muzzle.

For the small game you can shoot 130-grain FMJ (military ball) ammunition in .38 S&W Special and not tear the daylights out of the little critters, (but they'll be just as dead). There is a lot of lower-cost 158-grain lead ammunition that will work just as well. Accurate, dependable, and low recoil. It will kill small game and leave nothing but a hole.

If you really want a light load, you can shoot either the .38 Long Colt or .38 Short Colt in the carbine. Both will fit in the rifle and the Short Colt is akin to using a .22 Short in a .22 Long Rifle, or a .32 S&W in a revolver chambered for the .32 H&R Magnum or the .327 Federal Magnum.

Winchester loads both. The Short Colt will dispatch garden pests without alarming the entire countryside.

This is just my 2 cents worth.

Great news! I called Glock and they told me that The magazines will function perfectly. The only reason a Gen 5 Model 20 may not use the Gen 4 magazines is that they do not have the build that supports an ambidextrous safety "U". If the magazine's left-mounted Magazine release is moved to the right-hand side of the pistol's frame, the magazine will not seat in the pistol's frame.

End of story.

I've got a Gen 5 G20 and the Gen 3 and 4 mags fit in the Gen 5 but i don't know if the Gen 5 mag will fit ok in a Gen 1. sorry.

I bought my Glock Model 20 a long time ago (about 1992). I just did a little research on Glock Talk and believe that they will fir my early pistol (It is probably Gen 2).

My magazines are due Thursday afternoon.

This is all very good. Welcome and enjoy your time on the Forum.

Will they fit my Generation #1 Glock Model 20? I certainly hope so.

The Dan Wesson Razorback (when Bob Serva was running the company) is/was the best pistol that Bob and the gang ever produced. bar none! Match barrel/bushing, tight as a tick and accurate to a fault. (I have one of the first 150 manufactured.) The pistol has four magazines serial numbered to match the handgun. The piece was made to my personal specifications.

It is one of a kind.

If I could afford one of these, I would want it in a double-stack, full-sized service pistol. (I would want to squeeze every bit from the cartridge I could).

I believe that I will carry some 68-grain .380+p Underwood "Extreme Defender" in my 13 +1 round magazine in my CZ 83 Satin Nickel Finish Pistol and call it good.

Yep I read daily people get a new firearm and they pop up on a forum asking about modifications...  I say leave it alone, get to know the firearm as it functions and understand how to clean and maintain them!

AMEN!

Very nifty.  I am jelly.

At least you aren't in a "jam".  :P

Yes, the trigger guard on the Satin Nickel model has a protrusion on the front where one can use the finger of your non-trigger hand to grasp the pistol while firing the handgun. I'd be willing to bet that the pistol will be handy for stopping marauding critters (raccoons, coyotes, vicious dogs, opossums, etc.).

I truly look forward to shooting this Eastern Bloc pistol.

I'm putting in an order to J&G Sales for a CZ83 in 9mm Browning (.380 ACP). I'm also ordering two more 13-round magazines with it. The way I see it, the 3.8" barreled DA/SA design has been used by the Czech Army and Police in 9mm Makarov and has been field proven since the early 1980s. This will make for a neat "backup" piece and handy bed partner.

The small game and pests should beware! I'm coming, and hell is coming with me!  ;) 8) :P

Works for me!

Hello Tony!

One thing I am looking forward to is newer selection of bullets and their overall performance at various velocities.
Many things to look forward to like cannelure bullets for positive crimping to improve ignition qualities using various powder burn rates.
All in all it should be an interesting adventure.

Dear Shadow,

I agree with you completely and would like to see this round in a 16" barreled platform. Were this nestled in something akin to an M1 Carbine, it would make a perfect Hog/Black Bear/Whitetail rifle out to 200 yards.

In a prison setting, a 155-grain JHP smoking out the barrel at ungodly velocities would handle the biggest, meanest, ugliest inmate with consummate aplomb. Such a rifle/load combination would have no problems sending such a piece of human ordure to the "promised land" in less than a heartbeat.

Tony,

I really couldn't care less how "ungainly" or "odd" the pistol looks. Accuracy, coupled with terminal ballistics, is what matters. Aside from that, the killing power of a tighter "match" barrel and enhanced performance is what puts meat on the table, isn't it?
