Yeah they're incredibly mild so I'd say 1200 is quite generous. Shadow's pull-down from October of last year showed about 1050. I've shot a bunch of this and it's noticeably more mild than even "value" 10mm loads.

That's disappointing.

Advertised 1200 FPS. Has anyone very chronographed this stuff?

Found an old thread on ar15.com that had it coming in way low (1080s). Thread is 3 years old though.

Not bad-

http://www.cdnnsports.com/colt-csr-1516-5-56-16-mid-wt-bbl-free-float-1-30.html#.VOiRMGJMHFo

They are license built under the Colt name in Texas by New Bold Ideas.  FWIW.

Same gun i mentioned... i own one. Great gun for the money. Only thing i changed on mine was the flash hider to a brake and added a magpul stock. Accurate and has a great trigger.

Not saying they are good or bad...just adding info.

"Building" (cough- assembling) is nice and all but with prices of Colt 6920's these days I would find it hard to justify anything else as a first AR.

I think the real difference will come when LWD comes out with different springs to increase lbs.

Yea, hoping to see this sooner rather than later.

Just make sure the spring is seated properly. The scratching sound you are hearing is probably the spring scratching against the SS guide rod.

I took the RSA out and hand compressed a few times and you were right 100% of the noise was coming from the spring scraping against the steel guide rod.
Lubing the guide rod also helped tremendously.

Interesting. I've heard people say it is noticeably harder to rack the slide with a 24lb spring, figured the 22lb would be just a little harder than stock also.

22lb and 24lb ISMI recoil springs on Gen4 Glockmeister SS guide rods came today.

Objectively the stock dual RSA and the 20lb ISMI do NOT feel any different in terms of racking the slide,'

One thing I did notice: Racking the slide w/ the ISMI springs installed was making a funky scratching sound- the spring was scratching the barrel.

Is this normal? I'm not worried about cosmetic wear on the outside of the barrel but the sound was pretty abrasive and did not sound "right".

Glockmeister was out of their SS Gen4 guide rods for a few months because the last batch they had were machined out of spec and had to be remade...I'm hoping this has nothing to do with it.

I believe Redbaron is correct...the stock RSA may work for you. I would suggest giving it a try.

If not, the 24 pound RSA from Glockmeister has been working without a hitch in my Gen 4 and Underwood ammo.

I think a 22 or 24lb spring would both likely serve me well.

My new question however: any harm with a heavy 24 lb spring slamming the slide home with more force causing problems/premature wear?

I don't completely understand the mechanics and physics at play when the slide returns home.

I run a 22lb with a 6lb stricker spring as well and all is great.

What does a heavier striker spring accomplish?

OP,

Have you shot your G4 G20 with the factory spring setup? Has it given you fits? If so, was it manufactured before 1/1/2014? If it was, contact Glock; there were some issues and their website has info on getting an updated RSA.

If you haven't tried it with the G4 RSA, you may want to before expending the extra $$$$ without necessarily needing to. My G4 G20 has handled all the Underwood loads with no issues or frame battering.

Post 1/1/2014. I have not shot it yet. I am being far more OCD than I generally would be because I have a full FDE model and I imagine it would be a PIA to try and have it replaced should something happen.

Good to hear that your G4 20 hasn't had any issues with the stock set up. How many rounds have you fired and what types of loads?

cwall64...no need to delete your post brother.

It's a bit rude to ask a totally unrelated question before the question the OP had ask had been addressed.

But...it's the internet after all...no big deal. :D

No, I completely agree, it was my bad forum etiquette , so I removed it, hoping not to derail the topic.  I am also interested in the end result on your question!

Copy. Hopefully we get an answer.

How are the GlockMeister ISMI RSAs?  Seems as though they offer a pretty reasonably priced Gen4 compatible single spring for the G20 Gen4.  The guys at Underwood suggested a 22lbs one when I talked to them.

What do you mean? They are ISMI springs on a Glockmeister rod. Are you asking about the spring are the guide rod?

Also, please try not to derail my thread too hard  :)
