Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: 10mm Gelatin Test Metadata

Thanks for taking the time to pull all this together. This very useful data that I'll refer to again and again. Ive thought about the 10mm off and on through the years and the current potus pushed me over the edge a few years ago. I have not loaded or shot much  but I hope to be able to get to the loading bench soon to fix both of those problems. Thanks again!

10mm Hunting / Re: First 10mm deer.

"Trophy" is what it is in the eye of the hunter. Any animal taken with a handgun is a trophy for me. I congratulate you in the killing of your trophy handgun animal. Maybe you could fill us inn with more details about distance of the shot, the deers reaction, shot placement and how far the deer traveled after being shot. Enjoy your venison!

10mm Hunting / Burris Fastfire III
February 01 2015 09:30:09 PM MST
I've seen a few reference this optic in their posts. Does anyone have a lot of experience with it on top of a 10mm? I have mounted one on my G-20SF in hopes that it will allow me to be more accurate and extend my range capability to fifty yards.
Anyone care to tell me about their FF-III? Or perhaps another optic has worked well for you. I would love to have one that could be turned on and left on all season but if I can remember to turn it on when I get to the stand and when I leave I guess  it doesn't matter.

Since my chrony bit the dust I have no way of knowing what velocity those loads you quoted would be going.  Do you have an estimate Shadow? I also have some 135gr Noslers I may load up for two legged predators. I've packed those for social purposes in my G23  for years, albeit in Cor-Bon not my own loads. They switched to Sierras years ago but their early 135gr .40 were Nosler is my understanding.
If I can get my trigger to suit me without a lot of $$ I could see a 6" lone wolf bbl. in my future and later a long slide.
I can see this place making me spend money like the good folks over at Marlinowners.com.  This is great!

10mm Hunting / How about 180gr Remington Golden Sabers?=#
January 27 2015 07:45:27 PM MST
When components were hard to get I was able to get a thousand of the 180 GS. I wanted XTPs but they must have all been on the other side of the moon at the time. Has anyone used them on smallish whitetail deer? Like  others on this website have said, I think any bullet that is suited to defensive purposes against a 200 lb. two-legged predator should work on a 150lb. deer.
I also have 200gr Noslers but find the 180s to recoil much less. Since I am somewhat recoil sensitive I  will have to work my way up to the 200gr bullets with full house loads. Of my limited powder supply it looks like Long Shot will be my best candidate. Any thoughts for a newbie to the  10mm in a G-20SF with a FF III?

I would love to have the feel of a single action but realise that we are talking about two completely different firearms that operate in two completely different ways. I am looking for a trigger that I can shoot well enough to hunt whitetail out to fifty yards. I have installed a Burris Fastfire III on my G-20SF but really need some help with the trigger.
I have never been a great pistol shot and know I need all the help I can get. Trigger control and sight picture are the most important to make the best shot I can be. The Fastfire helps me with sight picture but I don't know what to do about th he trigger.
Just making the Glock trigger lighter is not enough. I would like to do away with the "mush" as much as possible, i.e. make it as "crisp" as obtainable, and do away with the overtravel.
Am I asking the impossible? Should I just forget about the Glock for hunting? Maybe I should just pull out by 41mag Blackhawk and forget the 10mm.
I do not know anyone who shoots competitively so I can't shoot another trigger set up. And I don't have the extra funds to just keep trying different trigger components. I've seen all kinds of kits online but don't know how they compare or which ones will give me what I am looking for. Actual experience from someone who has already been down this road would surely help. Thanks

General Discussion / First post, "best" Glock 20SF trigger
January 23 2015 09:09:32 PM MST
I've had my G20sf for nearly two years and might have a hundred rounds thru it. I have owned other Glocks for over ten years and am comfortable with the standard trigger or the 3.5# for defensive purposes. However I really want something without all the "mush" for the G20SF to hunt with. I recently read ,but didn't bookmark, what was touted to be the closest you could get to a single action pull. I do not expect the impossible and must maintain all safety but there has got to be something better. Please offer suggestions based on your actual experience. Thanks
