Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Who Shoots Lead
July 16 2012 09:15:54 AM MDT
I shoot lead also and my bullet of choice is the Laser Cast 180 gr TC wadcutter. Never had it lead up my Delta Elite with reasonable loads.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: Why Not Blue Dot or ?
July 16 2012 09:10:19 AM MDT
I started reloading the big 10 when it first became available back in the mid 80's. My choice of powder then and still is Alliant's (Hercules) Blue Dot for all my 10mm loadings. I did experiment with AA #5 and 7 but found them to be erratic in observed pressure and velocity. Blue Dot works for me in both hard cast lead and jacket bullets. So as far as I'm concerned, why mess with something that works.

Intercooler: I just looked at the specs on your Fuji digital camera and there is absolutely 6.3 mega pixels. Mega pixels is like horsepower in a car. You can buy a 500 hp Corvette, but where are you going to use it? My Nikon Coolpix 5100 has only 5.1 mega pixels and I have made 11 X 14 prints with excellent resolution. Keep it and enjoy it. JMHO!

General Discussion / Re: Kevin kicking but in .380

Redline:
I don't dispute what you are saying but I would like to point out two points not covered in your post.
1. Compare the weight of the LCP to the other 9mm firearms.

2. Compare the FPS and energy of the 380 and 9mm with similar bullet weights out of a mouse gun barrel at 5-7 yds. Not much difference is there? Shot placement is what's important, not velocity or capacity. I know how to use my LCP and thank you, with proper ammo, it will remain in my side pocket.

Mark:
If your pistol is still fairly new, I would consider contacting Colt Customer Service about your problem. They have always been very cooperative to me on the several occasions I have needed to call them. It is very possible that Colt will fit a new barrel to your Delta if found defective. In my opinion the best after market barrel you can buy is the Bar-Sto. it's rather expensive and you would probably have to fit it, but it's the best on the market and well worth it. Good luck.

Isn't still cheaper to roll your own?

Rifles / Re: Any Garand shooters
July 04 2012 08:01:27 AM MDT
I am a Garand owner and shooter myself and own three bought through the CMP (one came through with a NEW NM barrel). All I would like to say is that any of you that want a Garand purchased from the CMP program better get one now. Who knows what will happen after November's election if Obama wins and the subtle threats he has made about fireams and the 2nd amendment in general. This is not a political post, just a not too friendly warning what could happen and is just my own opinion.

Factory 10mm ammo / Re: GAS Ammo test
July 04 2012 07:49:47 AM MDT
Guys, when I first bought my Delta Elite back in the mid 80's. Hornady had a a 180 JHP round that would easily do better than 1200 fps. They were in oblong white 20 rd boxes and were hot. I still have 2 unopened boxes of the stuff for emergency use. I don't know what Hornady or the other ammo makers are making these days since I load my own and am not a velocity nut.  :)

Deadeye74:
Not being familiar with Glocks I can't give you a definitive answer. However tungsten is much lighter than steel, much stronger, and if properly formulated possibly out last steel guide rods for 2 or 3 times more rounds. However a cheaply made tungsten guide rod could be brittle and break upon firing. Buy one from a known manufacturer. JMHO.

I would like to wish all U.S. Veterans, both past and present, a very happy Fourth of July. Through your sacrifices, I am still able to speak English, worship my own God, vote for the candidate of my choice, and keep and bear arms. May God bless you all!

Guys, there's an old commercial that says "don't leave home without it". That applies to my Ruger LCP in .380 ACP. This pistol is so light that I just drop in my front pocket of my shorts and forget about it. In 90+ degree weather in my area, I wear as little clothes as possible and its so easy to conceal. Some of the new HP ammo available makes it a potent little cartridge and it's there if I need it. Haven't found a way to conceal a 10 mm or 45 ACP framed 1911 in my shorts yet.  :)
