The 450 BM uses the same bullets as the SOCOM.

Based on my understanding the 450 Bushmaster uses .452 projectiles and the 458 SOCOM uses .458 projectiles.  You can run .458 bullets through a die and size them down to .452, but they aren't the same family of bullets.

1/23/17 Yes, sqlbullet you are correct. Since posting I have taken two black bears that dropped on the spot or within 30 yards of being shot using the Hornady 250 FTX bullet.
I will be reloading with Hornady XTP for plinking but will stay with the 250 FTX for deer and black bear hunting.
Plus my 'friend' Tim Legendre had a lot to do with the 450 BM as it was originally called the 45 Professional.

I looked at the 458 SOCOM but decided to go with the straight cased 450 Bushmaster instead. The 450 BM uses the same bullets as the SOCOM.
Both rounds make great deer or black bear rifle on the AR platform.

Good huntin' everybody.

Yes, Gandog56,

You're right, 10 round mag limit.

I am going to get the 10mm upper from Olympic Arms as it just seems less hassle, even though it's more $$$$.

Thanks for your input.

Libtard def. Love it!

It's true, the BATFE has no problem taking a pistol converting it to a carbine/rifle and going back to a pistol. Even here in the libtard state that's OK.

Just so long as the conversion does not have any 'evil' features. So I am just trying to clarify before getting one.

I was hoping cw could help with that..

Thanks

CWlongshot,
I see you are in CT. Is the MechTech legal here?
I went over the whole 13-320 act and if you think of this as a rifle once you have added it to your pistol then the Act says you cannot have more than one finger, the trigger finger, under any part of the action. So does this the make the CCU an assault weapon?
I know it's useless calling the ploice, they say they don't make decisions.
I wanted one instead of buying the Olympic Arms upper, I have a registered AR-15, but this just looks great and it's $300 and change cheaper.
My pistol is the Springfield Omega, 1989, which predates the Sept 13th 1994 preban but my pistol was not an assault weapon back then.
I am so frustrated and confused.
Can you shed any light on this matter for me.
Many thanks.

Hi Beemer!
Saw your post on the linkless, so I posted pics of my SAO.

I see you must have the SA designed model they designed after they broke relations off with Peter Stahl.

Mine does not have the barrel bushing. and the guide rod is shorter.

Hi Guys,
Lots of good advice and comments on this site. Really good to be here...

Thought I would share some pics of my SA Omega.. With a quick back story.

Bought it '93 in 10mm. Tried but could not find a 45 or 38 super barrel, so I also bought a L.A.R. Grizzly but that's another story. The Omega was fine for a year and the original unsupported guide rod broke (see bottom rod in photo), SA could not/would not fix it but gave me Stahls address and ph# in Germany. Sent it over, heart in mouth, would I ever see it again. It came back! With 2 guide rods. It was shooting incredibly well. As you can see it gets a lot of use. Anyway one of the rods broke (middle pic). Stahls is gone, no chance of another repair so I use it gingerly.
Came across the SA SA, Single Action. Great! Another obsession. I have multiple calibers in this system: 7mmBR, 44Mag, 223, 243Win, 308Win, 357/45 WinMag, 357 Mag, 357 Maximum, 358 JDJ (shown in pic). Single shots in any of these calibers is just so much fun, and ammo lasts all afternoon.

This is my first post here.
I found this site a while ago and wish to thank you all for intelligent posting of topics..

This is a very cool conversion... I was thinking of getting the Olympic Arms 10mm upper but it's over $700, and anyway I have a Para in 10mm and a Grizzly in 10mm and 10mm Magnum..

I will look for the appropriate section and post pix of my toys..

Anyway, I'm now going to research that MegTech upper conversion, it would look great on my Para and Grizzly!
