Thanks Ronin.  So, the slide cutout is 'standard' on the XDm's?  I guess I was looking at 5.25"ers that weren't XDm's (I admit that I don't know a lot about the XD pistols).

Hey all,

I'm looking HARD at an Xdm 5.25" pistol...the thing that is throwing me is the cut-out on the slide.  It just seems top me that this'll be nothing but a lint & dust catcher when carrying.

PLEASE do not come back and suggest the 4.5"er-I'm not interested (at least at this point) in it.  Unless I missed something, NONE of the rest of the full-size XD's have this cut-out.  Does anyone here have experience carrying the 10mm XDm?

I have emailed Coonan  Arms about this-their .357 semi is more than long/strong enough to chamber the 10mm Mag.

  Reminds me when my buddy Brandon & I were at our local indoor range & he was shooting his 2.5"(?) .454 Ruger Alaskan.

Our buddy Greg, who was in charge that day, came running in & told everybody to take a break, that he was turning the main lights off; no explanation given.  Then he came back in & told Brandon to shoot the Alaskan again...the fireball coming out of the end of it was RIDICULOUS!!!. Greg was howling with laughter and everybody else was just astonished.

In the earlier days of Kel-tec, I asked to look at one in the case. The smug clerk pulled it out with a condescending smirk on his face, showed the chamber was clear, and as he was handing it to me he said "It's a piece of shit".

I replied "Really???"  He responds "Oh yeah!"  I looked him right in the eye and asked him why the hell they were selling piece of shit guns??  He had no reply as I set it down and walked out.
