General Discussion / Re: AA9 200gn

Be careful as some other Hornady manuals were wrong for 10mm as they showed the grain weights for AA#7 which was way too hot.

Also the newer AA#9 is much better than the older formulations on the early years.  I have seen probably 5 different formulations and I have posted that here on the forum.

The older AA#9 I had was 100% microbeads and max loads were compressed to which it would push the seated bullet back out.  It also produced one of the flattest primers in my test with 140 grain Barnes TAC-XP.
12.6 grains of AA#9 (had to adjust powder shoving the bullet back out 1.270")(Totally compressed @ 12.6 gr.) @ 1181 fps, Primer was totally flattened to the edges. It penetrated 5" of sandy dirt and the bullet failed to open, partially folded in on itself. Case expanded to 0.4280"
See photo.

This sounds like a great project well done! 8)   Good luck with the range testing... :)

I know I had to do many of the same task when I fitted the Bar-Sto 40S&W & 9x25 Dillon barrels to my S&W 1006.

General Discussion / Re: Glock channel liner

I haven't but that may be interesting to see if they would have less friction. I'd be concerned about rust if the liners are not of quality nonrusting or corrosive materials.

Very Nice looking firearm for sure!

2400 will be too slow, Blue Dot maybe but it hard to beat the BE-86 or Power Pistol for that matter.

Powder Pistol was BE-84 and BE-86 are derived from Bullseye...The grain size is a little bigger that Bullseye.
BE-86 has a flash suppressant added but Powder Pistol did not!

You might be able to use Ram Shot Silhouette powder with was the same exact as Winchester Action Pistol.

For sale / Re: Bren Ten Protype #2

It seems there were no bidders with that $37,500.00 price tag!  :o

Those primers are ok and the BE-86 is what I expected with those bullets.

What we see is where the cup starts to push into the Glock striker hole which isn't that bad.  One thing that can happen over time is small bits of primer cup or cup plating and even primer sealers can get blown into the strike channel which could cause light primer strikes.

Thanks for the load testing as shown!
I think BE-86 is what you will find will get you there.
800X is a great powder for some applications but weighing each charge is needed to be sure.

I hand weigh each and every powder charge anyway!  That way there are no guesses!

General Discussion / Re: 10mm master list

Yes there was a time when the old forum was running, and the data may not have been added by the person that was making the master list project.

Will need to stay on top of this offer should it come out in 10mm!

With them being made for 40S&W 10mm might be an easy mod to 10mm...(They say that the 40S&W is a dead cartridge) :o

Yes the 100% copper bullets are longer for their weight as compared to a lead core & cup style.
.400 diameter, 185 grain Xtreme Penetrator Bullets is shown as being Bullet Length   .755"
For comparison the 200 grain Hornady XTP is 0.6780"
For comparison the 200 grain Speer Gold Dot is 0.6930"
If you were to use BE-86 you might find 8.0 to 8.2 grains about the right velocity you are looking for.

I have shot 200 grain Gold Dots using 8.4 grains at 1235 fps using BE-86

General Discussion / Re: 10mm pull down
April 14 2025 02:12:59 PM MDT
The Pull-Downs section originally started out with a member sending me his purchased ammo for the documentations and I took it to heart embracing it to put the details into the project.

I have been trying to get others to do some and even help by viewing their posted information and pictures of the powders to help with identification as such...
