Our local Academy Stores in Texas ( I went to 3) have the Sig 180 in stock for 27 a box, I bought some to try also. I live in N Texas N of Dallas.

 Hit the local gun show yesterday looking for a 10mm in 1911. Found one used Kimber EclipseII in my area with 3 mags for a grand. Had decided if I didn't find one at the show I was going to drive the 2 hours to see it and make an offer.  The show was pretty good. Several 1911 10's there. I handled a used Colt, 2 new old style Colts, 2 new Kimber TLE's a DW Razorback and a few Witnesses.  Also found an STI.. They were all nice and all priced over a thousand bucks except the TLE which was about 900..The I found the table with the new Rock Islands. I was able to compare a TLE and Rock side by side. Long story short, I couldn't see paying another 400 bucks for a Kimber when the Rock seemed to be built like a tank with all the features I wanted and will serve me for what I want it for. They were 580 plus tax. I bought an extra Mecgar mag and 2 boxes of ammo and was out for right at 700. Talked to 2 other gentlemen that owned Rocks  in 10mm there and neither had anything but good to say about them.The thing is soaked in Cosmoline and I am on shift today and going out of town this week. Ill post pics and a range report when I get to clean her up and shoot her.

OK so I am going to get back in the 10m ring again very soon in a 1911 platform as I stated in my other post. I have run across a used Eclipse Custom II. From what I can see rom pics it looks good. Guy is the second owner with original box and 3 mags. Doesn't appear to have a lot rounds down it. What's a fair price for it? I am down to this gun or a new RIA Ultra.. Again thanks for the opinions.

I appreciate all the reviews on the RIA's. What in yalls opinion could be done to slick up the RIA to make it better if anything. I am seeing the mag problems above but I mean trigger works, slide work etc.

 Hello, I am new to the forum and about to pull the trigger on a 10mm purchase. I had a Glock 20 that I traded for a few years ago and let it slip away for something else. I have regretted it ever since. I love the round. This time I want a 1911 and I have it narrowed down to A rock Island Ultra. I have been researching them and cannot find anything the is deterring me from buying one. I thought I would check inhere to get opinions and experiences. Thanks in advance.. Steve
