Messages - Glock20SF

I have a brand new Glock 20SF that fails a check of the recoil spring assembly. I didn't care as I have no intent to shoot it with a factory recoil spring assembly but just thought I'd mention it. If you are getting a Glock check that out. The procedure to check one is (with an unloaded gun magazine out) pull the trigger and hold it back, hold the gun strait up, retract the slide fully, ride the slide forward as in release it very slowly. If the recoil spring assembly is good the gun should still full close. This is how they teach you to check it in the armorer's class.

Two things...
1. Their have been a rash of copycat ambushes on officers all across this nation since Dallas. My own department is constantly getting credible threats locally many from the so called peaceful members of the domestic terrorists known as BLM. I myself wonder if it is an ambush instantly when I hear of any officer is hurt or killed.
2. This thread I first read the other night. It gave me chills. Even though I hadn't joined yet I saw a thread about a gun guy in law enforcement who carries obviously the gun of his choice and works basically alone getting murdered. There I was sitting alone in my patrol vehicle near the end of my shift and it just gave me the chills. May he rest in peace.

Stand by for SWAT when it's an active shooter gets people killed. Same if it turns from active shooter into a hostage situation. That is all that article makes me think about. How the outdated standard of wait for SWAT have cost so many adults and children in this country their lives while equipped officers capable of dealing with the threat stood by waiting. In NC the attorney general directed state wide in service long ago that basically told officers NOT to do this with an active shooter. The chances of SWAT in most places being able to even show up on scene before an active shooter scenario is over is so low it's not worth highlighting the training they do for it imo.

After this has been characterized as "irresponsible" on the part of the guide what else can I add? Frankly I'm shocked at the number of people I've seen so far in other arenas that are praising this so called guide. He's lucky he didn't get his clients killed.

Just joined but I've been reading here anonymous alot recently. I'm 44 and currently a police officer in the South for the past 8 and a half years. Due to policy, the times, and just plain good sense I can't say the specific agency but I can say it is a city jurisdiction that covers a huge area and is right beside a major interstate. I currently am finishing up the part of my career that is a patrol officer and before the year is over will be in a full time investigator's position. I am an fto and Glock certified armorer among other things but my passion is in teaching new officers and older ones with bad habits pistol fundamentals. So much so I dedicate a minimum of 1 day every 2 weeks of my range time to teaching officers on my own time. My duty weapon currently is a Glock gen3 17C. I'm 100 percent happy with the performance of the gun and the ammo we use with the exception of our duty load vs. 4 legged predators. In my job I'm find myself more frequently having to deal with vicious dogs and I mean dogs that people are training to be vicious. I've had quite a few times where I have had to shoot a dog and even though it was necessary I felt it would have been more humane with a more powerful round. A rifle would be better but 99.9% of the time when I need a firearm something unexpected has happened and all I'll have is what is already on my side not what rides in my trunk.

With that in mind and the fact that I can basically carry any gun that I can get approved and qualify with I recently purchased a Glock 20SF. I already know what I want to do to it before next year's qualifications and should have all that done with enough time to get plenty of practice beforehand. So far I've purchased a Safariland holster but hopefully can get a few things with each paycheck in the future. So this is me saying hi. :)
