Okay so here is my update.  Kimber customer service get an A+.  In less than two weeks I shipped and got the firearm back.  They reamed and polished the chamber, adjusted the extractor, and replaced the recoil spring.  They sent it back dirty after firing 36 rounds through it but  o big deal.  I did a quick clean and shot 100 rounds of sig ammo.  Two different lots.  Of the 100 rounds, two had an issue at the feed ramp.  What's different though is I could drop the mag and put it back in with no issues!  It only did this with the Kimber mag and it was when the gun was really heated up.  It still ejects cases like a reward bullet.  Never stand behind somebody shooting one of these lol.  I'm glad I bought it and I do love this gun now that it's fixed.  Now I just need to get a threaded barrel...

Could you find your brass?
We shot mine the other day, and my wife said "it's shooting both directions!"
The brass shoots out with almost as much force as the bullet.  My nephew was cracking up.  One ended up resting on my neck at my shirt line and it went down my back.  I keep brass but I was indoors and after watching what it did with the brass I won't shoot my own loaded ammo indoors.  However I would rather it eject the brass at 1300fps than stove pipe.  This is becoming a carry gun for hogs and people.  Only one will be concealed though :))

I want to say I love it but I can't.  As people already know some kimbers have issues right out of the box, I was unlucky enough to get one.  First issue was when I was trying to clean it before the first shoot, the barrel would not come out.  Luckily I live near a smith that has been doing 1911s for a long time.  He even was a smith at STI in the 90's and early 2000's.  He took it back and discovered a small burr preventing the barrel from coming out.  He filed it and it came out.  Secondly I like a tight barrel bushing but this thing is way too tight.  I buggered up my tool trying to get the damn thing off.  The barrel tap method won't go all the way.  These were the easy issues.  Sadly this gun has an extractor issue and a feed ramp issue.  I've had a single mag have three issues with either the feed ramp or extractor. The gunsmith looked at it and said it's about a $225 job to make it right.  I'm sending it to Kimber first which is where I am at now.  Just waiting on the UPS label.  I still have faith in Kimber but this bummed me out.  It's a strait shooting and has great handling though.  I will keep this thread updated.

I ended up purchasing the silent thunder fusion.  I look at the alpha but it just didn't like I would like it.  I don't plan on carrying at the 6 o'clock position, more like 5 o'clock so hopefully this works.

I live in south central Texas (Austin) so heat in an issue the majority of the time.  As you may know Austin is insanely liberal and anti gun.  I used to not care about printing but so many people get butt hurt here about guns.  I have a shoulder carry but that's not practical eight months out of the year.  I have read that SOB isn't comfortable while sitting but neither is appendix but I was able to get used to it as long as it was in the right area.  I will look into that holster though, thanks

6 years ago I lost a lot of weight.  Granted I gained some of it back but I have loose skin.  Stand IWB does nothing for me as I print like crazy.  I have never done SOB but it makes sense on a full size like this.  I carry a Sig P938 appendix carry and I can usually find a comfortable spot however that is micro.  I don't think that will work with the Kimber.  Any ideas?

Only thing I would say is the Coonan is elusive and I think is already discontinued.  I have read of people into month eight of their order and as of a few weeks ago it's no longer o the website.  Your price on the camp guard is $200 too cheap.  I just bought one as an auction I got the average.  $920-$970 is the going price.  Buy it now was $1050 as of a few days ago.  Remmimgton has a 10mm as well.  It's at Cabela's for $899.  It feels like a standard government model only in a 10mm.  Great list otherwise.

Looking for one and I'm not seeing much of anything.  Anybody know of companies that make one?

I use their 9mm for plinking and it fine.  I have no clue how it does on 10mm.  Arms Unlimited

Just won an auction for the camp guard at $950.  I know sig has two modes but I was looking at a legion.  I own 5 Sigs including an SBR MPX and a German made P226.  You want to talk about a manufacturer with recents issues?  Talk sig.  don't get me wrong I love my sigs but after waiting 11 months (trust route) for my SBR only to have major issues out of the box it really pissed me off.  Ultimately I paid to have the issues resolved with a gun smith that is a lot of experience with MPX issues.  I hate that the Kimber doesn't have a rail but I just liked how it looked and felt (I get the target model).  I know people bitch about Kimber but like I said I own one that has been flawless.  We shall see how this one treats me.  On a side note I totally forgot how expensive it is to reload for a caliber you don't own lol.

My experience with Kimber  has been dismal, twice.

Both were Ultra Carry II. Neither ever ran right even after multiple trips back to Kimber. Never owned another since as I believe there are guns that are as good or better for the same money. I have 2 Dan Wessons, a Sig and a Colt. They have all run flawless from day one.

I find it ironic that you can afford a Kimber but not a Sig. maybe I'm way off base on my price knowledge of each.

Awesome!  Hopefully it doesn't shoot brass too far, that stuff is expensive  :P

I actually own a Kimber now.  It's a basic custom II but I've literally never had a problem in the six years I've shot it.  I put some new sites on it and a few other accoutrements by a 1911 smith that also competes in 3 gun.  I love the gun.  I know there are people that have huge issue with Kimber, I'm not one of those.  I was more curious if anybody had any feedback on the camp guard.  I read a great article front the truth about guns.  I want a 10mm.  I hate glock, I can not afford a sig, the colt did not work with my smaller chick style hands, and the Remington seemed okay.  I held the target II which was great but I don't think I want a 6" barrel.  This will not be my everyday carry (for now) but will be my only side arm when hog hunting

I had no idea Lehigh made .40/10mm!!!  I use the hell out of them on .300blk.  They make a fantastic pig killing round!  Good to know!

Considering that #7 is almost the same as Blue Dot, just a hair slower, depending on the chart you are looking at, I'd call it acceptable powder for the 10mm. I tend to gravitate to the slower powders though and have found that 2400 has a sweet spot for the 10mm and 180 gr bullets. I probably have most any of the powders but Blue Dot and 2400 seems to be more accurate from my particular 10mm. Since you have a bunch of it, that would be where I would start. You don't always have to shoot full house loads anyway or heavy weight bullets. I'm still looking for a good accurate load with 135gr Rainiers HPs. I have one for the 115gr Lehigh Defense at 1500'ps using CFE Pistol. Now that's one solid copper bullet that gets there with authority.

Thank you!  #7 is cheaper and easier to find for me right now.  The Alligant powders are more scarce for some reason.  Plus I use #7 for 9mm suppresed so I have a lot.  Not oppose to a few pounds of others though.
