10mm Hunting / Re: Range, how far is too far with a pistol?

The 10mm cartridge with well constructed bullets is capable of taking game further than most shooters can manage. That being said, there is no substitution for practice. 100 yards is well within the cartridges capabilities. I know this by taking WV size white tails with it slightly beyond that distance with xtp bullets. They have always performed when called upon on whitetail deer. As for other larger game, I cannot add in. 125 lb whitetails 100 yards is well within the limitations and offers ethical passage of the game.

10mm Hunting / Re: 7" KKM barrel, would you?

Model 40 MOS, KKM 6" barrel, Gen 3 24 lb spring set up,all equals extreme spreads less than 10 feet in my nuke 800x loads with a 180 gr xtp. My load has gone way over book spec and will not share it for that reason but this combination has met every expectation for me in the 10mm. People shoot this gun and are absolutely shocked at the power when it slams the metal targets, clear out to 115 yards.

New to forum. Old to this discussion. Best question to ask is what do you feel you are most capable with and what will be the duty of your firearm. I personally load the old ACP with a stiff load of 800x behind a 255gr Hunter Supply SWC. It rattled my metal targets just as hard as the 10mm with nuke loads of 180s. The numbers are just that, for comparing on paper. The animals don't know the difference between the two when the bullet smacks them in the boilermaker. That being said, know your purpose with the firearm and practice, practice, practice.

10mm Hunting / Re: 200 gr Bullet from Montana Bullet works

They are next on the list for me. Have taken 3 deer with 155gr cross using stiff load of blue dot. Now am pushing my 40 MOS with 180 gr xtps and 800x. 200gr Montana bullets are next. Looking at the WFN plain bade bullets due to the wider meplat.
