General Discussion / Re: Plans for the weekend??

Working this year. But it is the ER... usually something interesting involving a boom rolls in

Cleaned a bunch of nonreloading/nongun related detritus from one of the benches.

About a 1000 556 brass going through the trim process.

Setting up to do a run of 200gr Nosler JHPs I got from SPS a few years ago.

I shot several of their(GSSF) outdoor matches in the mid/late 90s. First couple with a G19.

Then I shot one with my G20 and IIRC some 155gr reloads (light load). Shot fine but the one thing that sticks in my memory was that the plates went down with authority compared to the 9mm, even if they were just clipped. I used my most warn brass, knowing I wouldn't see them again. Good times and lots of comments from the staff.

After that I shot a few GSSF matches with my G26.

Always a good time.

Range reports / Old vintage

Ten mike-mike taking a turn on the reloader so I was trying to shoot up some odds & ends to harvest the brass.

Loaded these at the end of the last millennium while still ln active duty. I found 10ea in a box and was going to shoot them all up but thought I'd save the other 5 for a 2045 shooting session.

Reloading 10mm ammo / Re: MP 165 powder pics
May 29 2020 12:52:22 PM MDT
Thanks for the analysis Shadow. Will continue to proceed w cautious workups when using this powder. Doesn't appear to be available anymore on the American Reloading site but what I have should provide plenty of fun.

Reloading 10mm ammo / MP 165 powder pics
May 29 2020 12:32:49 AM MDT
The Shadow asked me to post some pics of this powder MP165. I bought it from American Reloading about a year ago and it said to use BE86 data minus 10% and work up.

The lighting is fluorescent in my garage. I put some Longshot in the pic for comparison. Let me know if you need different shots.

Greentick be sure to test the results as that powder could be slightly different!  ???

Please post a picture of the MP165 powder in a scale pan (good close up)

Shadow: will do when I get a chance.

Everyone else: Many thanks for the concern and warning. I. Will. Be. Careful! (seriously, I will. I work in an ER, have seen several different user headspace-and-timing gun related issues. Do not want to join that crowd.)

I used the BE86 data as a starting point for 180FMJs, dropped a grain from max, and worked up at 0.2gr intervals. Happy with results, somewhat less of a wallop than Longshot but not chrony'd so that's just subjective speculation.

(BTW, the avatar pic was longshot, not MP165. Not sure how heat sensitive LS is but I was shooting on a hot day w once fired brass and a circa 1991 G20 w the original factory bbl)

Very timely! Thanks Shadow! Gives me a ballpark for the 500 200gr Nosler JHPs I bought a few years ago. I picked up a bunch of "MP165" (supposed BE86 equivalent) from American Reloading during the fat times and am currently filling up my 10mm brass.

I've heard rumors of a single stack glock along the lines of a G48...

When I got in the 10mm was on the down swing and the fohty on the upswing. Since I started reloading w the 10, I always figured if I accumulated enough brass I'd be good to go since the primers, projos, and powder would always be available. I think enough of us kept the faith and kept talking it up that it planted the seeds of today's resurgence. Go team! lol

Nice vid! Always good to see factory options.

Gen 2 G20. Other than 5 boxes of PMC that I bought in 1991 it has always shot my reloads or (rarely) factory reloads. No problems after the early learning curve involving micrometer vs Mk1 eyeball regarding COAL lol.

About 10yrs ago I put in a 22# wolff spring and steel guide rod when I started working up some hot loads (in new brass). Also added tritium sights.

A few years ago put a ghost connector.

Otherwise stock. Many thousands of jacketed and plated and, rarely, lead. No problems.
