Plot twist!

The 400 Legend, designed for ARs. A lengthened 10mm case, 2.26" cartridge OAL and claimed ballistics of a 215 gr bullet at 2300+! Uses ordinary 223 lower, likely similar magazines and a 6.8 bolt!

VERY interested to see how this develops.

sqlbullet posted my usual load - 8.2 Longshot, 200 gr cast.

That goes 1150 or so from a 4.6" M&P, a bit over 1200 from a 6" Lone Wolf.

It's pretty much my only 10mm load. I have plenty of 40s if I want lighter/slower bullets.

I've been long fascinated by the round since Leatham campaigned it but looking at the data above, it seems only a half-step speedier than the 357 SIG and has several large requirements on top of that (larger frame guns, more powder, etc). First time I've
bothered comparing the two charts and  other'n being something odd to play with, I doubt now I'll try it. Thanks for posting the data!

Small primer 10 or 45 brass often makes me say bad words when humming along on my Dillon. I thought I found ALL of 'em. Damn!

I have the same Bergara with a standard barrel. Suppressed, it's a gopher killing machine and is everything the 10/22 should have been initially.

Ah ha! Thanks, sqlbullet. What I was leading up to was to ask what the engineering obstacles might be in such an outfit. The BCG matches up conveniently for this application but I'm sure there are other considerations of which I'm not aware. It seems that all the wizardry would be in fab'ing a 10mm barrel with the standard AR DI features. Could this just drop on a suitable (pistol magazine) lower?

Intriguing rig! If possible, could you post a photo of the bolt/bolt carrier. Just curious about its design.

Sean Wolff advised that their M&P 45 springs and guide rod will work on the 4.6" 10mm, despite no info on the website. They're working on the shorter barreled M&P compatibility still. Ordered one in 22 lb and it seems to work just fine.

My woods rig was similar to what others have posted but I've recently sold my Gen3 G20 (6" Lone Wolf bbl) for the new M&P 4.6". The grip is much better IMO but only Wolff offers an appropriate recoil spring (22 lbs) and it requires their guide rod to work. My 200 gr cast loads with Longshot lost about 75 fps in the shorter barrel, but I can live with that. Still hate the trigger, but that's another story.

This is all fine and good but all for naught if you can't get it into action RIGHT NOW, so I always carry outside any garment, regardless of weather. In the woods, open carry doesn't attract the same attention it does elsewhere.
