Yeah, the few products out there are so over-marked up it is absurd!

According to one of my guns stores, which happens to be the oldest and largest in Central Ohio where I live, the primary causes of the shortage is demand COMBINED with the fact that many of the factories shut down in the early days of the pandemic and just can't catch up.

Does this sound right to you?

General Discussion / Re: When did this become acceptable?

I would like to think that well-trained and respectful, disciplined civilians would either NOT be in these public venues or wouldn't be openly toting a rifle???

Seriously thinking about one (if I can find any) and wondering what anyone's experience with it has been?

Just saw one at gun store for the first time - it was a great deal but I am anxious to know what others think about this product??

Thanks,

General Discussion / Re: So Walmart is dropping most ammo

Yeah, and now Kroger is asking people not to carry in their stores.  They just created a new national target for bad guys since no one will be armed in the stores................

Was just wondering about their quality and reliability?  I perceive them as being less expensive products but I don't know if they are made well and just without a lot of standard features out of the box (think Glock), or if they are crappy and cheap?

Anyone have experience?  I am looking at this in particular:

Leo;

My wife hears this literally hears this every week from parents!  Broken record.

I think about this all the time since my wife is a middle school teacher here in Central Ohio.  I have lived here my whole life.

I am starting to think the roots of this are in the moral decay of society and the family unit, COMBINED with just plain evil - right now, on this topic, the devil is winning.

What are your thoughts?

I MAY have an opportunity for force on force training - using full pads with something like simunitions.  I recently took and passed the Active Shooter class and our trainers are trying to set this new training up.

I think it would be invaluable experience but would like to hear from anyone who has been through it?  I have supreme confidence in my trainers and am excited about the possibilities.

Thanks,

Thanks, SQL.  I am already signed up for the follow up shooting clinics.

Guys;

Trainer is Mark Lucas here outside of Columbus, Ohio.  VERY experienced.  Taught the basics of run/hide/fight but he taught and we practiced triple-taps with him emphasizing headshots if at all possible as most of the bad guys are wearing protection now.

The requirement for this course (with him) is 5 defensive/tactical courses with practice and certification.  So he said he admittedly taught a little more aggressive approach than FEMA advocates.  Definitely get your family safe first, hide if possible, but he said these shooters are now going room-to-room with the primary or sole intent to kill EVERYONE.  So, he advocated if you are confident enough, trying to take the shooter out MAY pose less of a risk than there already is.  Shooting data suggests anything to challenge a shooter is likely to slow him up or stop him from further action.

We practiced shooting on the move, using cover & conceal and engaging targets with head-shots as the top priority.  Had to hit over 75% of head shots from 25 feet or less and 90% of center mass shots on triple taps.  He has specific follow up shooting clinics to further practice and engage active shooters using all of the criteria taught in the class.

I am sure I am leaving out a ton.

Don't know all that is involved but am really excited to learn.  This course requires that I (everyone) have successfully completed five previous courses.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Use an FFL to send to another FFL.  Costs a few bucks more but WELL worth the time and cost for safety and peace of mind.
