Since we had yet another politically motivated act of violence today, I started carrying my G40 for the first time, in an OWB holster, with my HD Xtreme Penetrator loads in a OEM 15 round mag.

Again, I don't expect anything to happen to me, and it is unlikely in my county, but I will not be the last one to be properly prepared for self defense or defense of any victim in my direct vicinity.

It is heavy and gets into the way when exciting the car and my arm bangs against it when walking.

I need a better holster.

I will also have to go back to training.

The 6" 9mm conversion barrel I have for my Glock 20SF might be better off chambered for 38 SUPER.
Back when I started loading the 9x25 Dillon I picked up the ZERO 0.356" 121 grain JHP from ROSE Dist. as they were originally for the 38 SUPER.  They are just a copper cup/lead core design.

This one was from the S&W1006 5" BBL in the 4th jug of water.
Power Pistol 10.2 gr CCI 350 Velocity 1592-1620 fps

Each row is a five shot test.  GRT data was added after I shot these not before.  I have had them loaded for several weeks.

You may notice that there are only nine rows and wonder why I loaded only 45 shots.  I loaded 50, but redacted the 152 grain test.  I neglected taking my seating depth into account with those loads.  The source data was for a 147 grain XTP seated to a COAL of 1.260.  My load was seated 1.165.

GRT says my pressure was nearly 70K PSI. The case heads were expanded an additional 0.001", no buldges.  I had two pierced (small rifle) primers which was my only pressure sign.  I think this illustrates very well the risks of using "pressure signs" to determine safe pressure. They are really subtle until they aren't. Velocity was 1300 fps for a 152 grain SWC - Pretty solid for a 5" 1911.  The shots were not remarkable either.

I am really enjoying the fast nines.  I plan to push the Federal HST's further into the 9X23 territory next with Silhouette and AA7.

Yeah...Deagle in 50AE is my "big bore" and it makes you grin ear to ear after the first shot - a grin that is gone by the end of the magazine.

My S&W 500 ES with the shortest non-ported .50 barrel and hot 700gr hardcast loads is basically not manageable and any inexperienced shooter with a less than VERY strong grip will eat the next round when trying to regain hold on it while looking down the pipe.

I shot one 700gr round and had enough. I can shoot a small box of 350gr, and that's enough for a few years.

Fun gun and everybody in the range comes over. Would be good as a last ditch bear-get-off-me gun, if you don't have any follow-up shots planned. That's about it.

That BMG thing though... yeah... HELL no. Not even as a safe queen.

He does.  He has even signed some posts "Grizzly Ammo".

I am allowing it for now as for the most part it is contributing to the community.

Quote from: RedTeam98 on September 23 2025 07:26:24 AM MDTHere in Alaska Grizzly Ammunition is very popular with 200/220 Hardcast for Bear Defense.

Do you work for Alaska Grizzly Ammunition or something? In literally half of all your posts you are suggesting "Alaska Grizzly Ammunition".
