I good friend of mine that is ?all things hunting? is training his Black Mouth Cur puppy as a wounded deer rescue dog. She found a buck 17 hours after the shot last weekend for the hunter, pretty cool stuff

Awesome.

I took my dog out once to try to find a deer.

It would've worked, though the deer crossed over into the states' animal preserve area and I couldn't continue on to retrieve it.

My dog loves deer.  Every drop of blood he found, he'd lap it up.  Truth is, the breed of dog that I have is called a lapponian herder which originated in Finland.  They were used for herding and tracking reindeer.  So, it kinda makes sense that he's so good with whitetail too.  He gets a far off "wild eyed" look to him when he's tracking a deer.  Or about to be getting some deer meat.  It's deep down inside and you can literally see the change of expression in his face that it's an instinctive trait.  His face tells the whole story and it's almost like he's a different dog when he gets the scent.

But he's gun shy as can be.  Hates to be around a gun going off.  And thunderstorms.  He can sense a rain 30 minutes before it gets there and paces back and forth until its' past.  I've about got him over doing that now, but it's taken a lot of work to where he doesn't act stupid.  Though, I don't mind the heads up about the incoming rain.  I admit that I kind of like that.

But I still like my little shadow.  He's really the most intelligent dog that I have ever had.  If I told you everything about him, you'd think I was lying.

This post checked by independent fact checkers, and they're all pissed off about it.

Absolutely, dogs can be amazingly intelligent
