10mm Loads Chronograph Results

I finally broke down and bought another chronograph.  I couldn't stand it any longer now that I reload 10mm!  The other one, let's just say, met an unfortunate and tragic end several years ago.

Here's some recent chronograph results. I would appreciate your helpful experience and feedback. Are these velocities what you have seen or expect?

Pistol:  Kimber STII 10mm w/5" barrel

180gr XTP JHP, 9.2gr Longshot, CCI LPP, Starline Case, 1.255" OAL
Low: 1249 fps
High: 1302
Avg: 1266
Notes: Strong sharp recoil, excellent accuracy, reliable feeding

180gr XTP JHP, 8.5gr Power Pistol, CCI LPP, Starline Case, 1.250" OAL
Low: 1185 fps
High: 1242
Avg: 1208
Notes: Mild recoil, excellent accuracy, reliable feeding, lower than expected fps

180gr Remington UMC Factory Load (FMJ FP, Nickel case)
Low: 1096 fps
High: 1126
Avg: 1117
Notes: Low recoil, good accuracy, lower than expected fps, reliable feeding

180gr plated FP, 7.5gr Power Pistol, Win LPP, Starline case, 1.250" OAL
Low: 1042
High: 1094
Avg: 1067
Notes: Light recoil, good accuracy, reliable feeding, good plinking load

All loads are within load book data and none showed signs of excessive pressure.

Pistol: Glock 17 (Gen 4) w/4.5" factory polygonal barrel

124gr Remington FMJ RN, 6.0gr Power Pistol, Win case, FC SP primer, 1.150" OAL
Low: 1175
High: 1220
Avg: 1203
Notes: Medium 9mm recoil, good accuracy, reliable feeding, 9mm NATO equivalent load?, max load but no signs of excessive pressure

I can't speak for your reloads because I have never used those powders. But your UMC velocity average is within one foot per second of my UMC average.

That's good to know.  Amazing consistency!  I hope the other loads' velocities are as accurate.

I chronographed some of the same loads through a like new Gen 4 G29 compact I traded for recently.  It has a 3.75" stock Glock barrel. The Chrony seemed to be working very well today with only a couple of error readings.

Conclusion:  Loads showed 50-100fps less velocity in shorter 3.75" barrel than 5" barrel. The 8.5 Power Pistol and 9.2 Longshot loads are great. Glock 29 is a handful but powerful and controllable.

Excellent follow-up post! Thanks for sharing with us. One of these days I think I am going to get myself a Glock 29 too!

My EDC is a G29sf gen 3 - I load my own 10mm - from mid range to hot - hot - but not nuclear - Had a h*ll of a time hanging on to it. These loads where for my G20sf gen 3 with a 6.6 inch barrel. So I had to modify my 29 to match my G20 (close enough to handle these loads ) and this is what I came up with, and it handles these loads almost as good as the G20.

One of my loads ( 180gr HCFP - 13gr 2400 ) Caused me to change change the 29.
