AA #9 is a relatively slow powder? (I think).

How full was the case?

I want to try this in my 10mm AR.

These match some done awhile back, February 2015 listed as JHP's.  They look and measure like Hornady XTP 180's.
It is a compressed load, I think that accounts for the variations in COAL.  I my own testing I have seen where the compressed powder actually pushed the bullet back out. :-[

AA#9 is a slow pistol powder very close to 2400. I have had excellent results with it in my 41 Mag and 10 mm.

#9 gives good velocity and accuracy, and has a safety margin in that it is probably not possible to get enough in the case to cause a serious problem.

But it is not economical, as it takes almost twice as powder as Blue Dot, Longshot or 800X.  And it is usually about  50% more per pound to buy.  The two together means #9 costs me twice as much per load in powder.

I still burn a good bit of it though.

At least you don't have to worry about bullet set back.
