Much hangs in the balance for the not so great State of Maryland

Seems a very hot question is what happens when/if they ban certain weapons. The question was asked and I'm not liking the answer from those with knowledge of how it would work:

Ok - I received an email from MarylandShallIssue.org

" Although you may continue to own a banned rifle (after registering it), you CANNOT take it to the range to use. Transportation will be banned.

So all depending, even my little 14 shot .22LR it appears I can own it but would need to just keep it in my house and never to the range for shooting. If the 10 capacity mag ban goes to handguns that kills 2 of my 4 10mm's. I can't wait for the Wars to be fought and this stuff over  >:(

IC, just my opinion, but I've seen nothing like this in the proposed Federal law. Anything you own before is grandfathered in. I'd be  surprised to see anything pass both houses of Congress at this time. As you know the Prez has resurrected his campaign machinery for it's use helping forward all of his agendas....not just gun control. The idea, of course, being to shape public opinion through any and all outlets. Hard to say what the future will hold.

I believe Maryland in one of the states with active gun legislation in their legislative bodies. This is what I'd be more concerned with if I live in one of these states. As I mentioned in another thread I live in the state of Georgia. In GA's Bill of Rights to the state constitution we have the right to keep and bear arms. The only way for the state legislature to pass any 'constitutional' anti gun laws must be preceded by a constitutional amendment to nullify that right.

I'm more worried about what the State does (see NY). If they pass something it will bar me from my Range with some pieces.

These governments state and federal will be seen as tyrannical in their actions to disarm law abiding citizens who did nothing wrong, an infringement of what is stated in the second amendment!
If they take one gun, then they will try for another, till they take them all!

However if they keep poking the Hornet's nest, there will be a swarm and someone will get stung! :o

That was my point in the previous reply. Maryland seems to be one of the states most likely to pass some legislation of their own. All you can do is to contact your state reps and senators to let them know your opinions on the matter. It can influence the vote of some if they get enough constituents contacting them on bills before their chambers. It's much better to send an individual email/letter than copies of group letters or petition type forms. Something short and to the point....no point in writing a book as it will only be read by a staffer, not the politician. All the pol will want to hear is the count of how many for or against the legislation. On some pols it won't matter, but at least you tried.

It boils down to Red States Blue States. Here in Penna,Rep Metcalf seeking what i believe Texas,Wyoming,Utah are,no Federal Ban will be inforced by agents of federal authority. If so,arrest and felony charge.
Problem in Pa,you have libtards in Philly and surrounding counties along with city of Pittsburgh.Rest of state is conservative red. Some pockets of blue.

Move.

Some call this the cowards way out.  But often the trick to winning the war is picking the correct battles.  The NRA has been blasted for this by many (including me).  But the truth is sometimes it is better to stay relevant to the dialog than be excluded.  And sometimes you cut your losses in one battle and amass your strength for another.

Maryland is a small state.  Pick a nearby one that has a more reasonable/sway-able legislature, move and swell the ranks of gun owning voters in a state that isn't a lost cause.

Just my two cents.

I may b3 thread hijacking a little but I'm one of the unlucky ones in NY. I did contact my representatives multiple times in a couple different means with some voting for me and some against. Although some didn't even get a chance because of the "message of necessity" move the governor used. As much as I would like to move to PA where I dont have to sell my high cap mags as they are now a felony charge or register my AR that can never be given to my son or other family member I have a big family and we are rooted fairly strong here. If and when some of them pass on I could serious contemplate a move (I do have other members that would move with us) but the older generations to me are a necessity to have around for my son and nieces/nephews/cousins. I am also licensed to work here and would have to go through the not so fun attempt to relicense in another state. That isn't so bad but the family part is too big to dismiss for us. I will continue to contact my representatives and I know I have an uphill battle but I am hopeful that amendments to the bill will soften its stupidity until I can either move or change my circumstances in other ways.

I wish those in other states in similar situations as NY good luck. I hope that everyone contacts their representative so that they can do their job and vote according to their constituents. Maybe you guys will have better luck that we did in NY.
