Nickel plating question.

I got a Taylor's and Co (Uberti) 1875 Outlaw for my birthday from my wife. Didn't really need it, but I've always thought the 1875 Remington design was a great looking gun, especially in nickel. This one is in .357mag with a 7.5" barrel.

I finally got a chance to shoot it the other day. After a couple cylinders of 38s I ran 3 cylinders of 357 through it. It shot great, the fixed sights were on, and I was pretty happy. Then I took a good look at it. It seems that the front of the cylinder has almost entirely turned black. There are also a couple of areas on the sides of the cylinder that are black/blue. The inside of the topstrap, about an inch back from the barrel, looks scorched black and blue, too.

Of all the guns I've owned this is the first nickel one. Is this in any way normal? It reminds me of overheated chrome exhaust pipes on motorcycles. Do I have a legitimate complaint here?

Yes it happens, some will not clean up, but FLITZ does help!

Thanks Shadow. The Flitz did take most of it off. CLP and a nylon brush did absolutely nothing, hence my concern.
