Just joined up a little while ago.  Took me a while to navigate the verification questions.  One was, how much is ten and three?  I answered, thirteen.  Wrong answer.  Correct answer:  13.  Story of my life.

As to 10mm.  My interest in it started with a Smith & Wesson Model 610 back about 12 or 14 years ago.  I'm not a competitive shooter; I just liked the oddball chambering in a revolver.  Didn't have the 610 very long; later regretted letting it go.  Last year, I bought another 610 just like my first one, same generation, same bbl. length.  Don't like the Hogue rubber grips, changed to S&W "round to square" wood target stocks.  Just as I had my first 610.

Next, I started stocking up on 10mm supplies.  Including a bit of .40 S&W, which is another reason I like the 610, because it has that adaptability, along the lines of .38 Spec. in .357 Mag.  I find I prefer not to do that, however, given adequate supplies of 10mm stuff.

Next, I figured so long as I have all this 10mm stuff, why not get an automatic, which is what the 10mm was about to begin with.  So this year I bought a Colt 1911 in stainless new in box.  Came with two magazines, you never have enough mags, so I bought a third Colt mag online.   But I don't shoot hot-rod loads, not particularly interested in the upper end but again, I like the capability being there.  Which is what I find I like about the 10mm, it's very adaptable to a wide range of power.

Lately, I've been at the range with my chronograph, getting some baseline data for rolling my own 10mm light loads, both with cast bullets and jacketed.  I cast my own, plus I buy others that I like.  Recently discovered coated Bayou Bullets, those show promise.   Got some loads made up with odd-ball powders too, stuff there's no data for.

People might say, "Why load 10mm light loads?  Why not just get a .40 S&W?"  Well, the .40 is more limited as to upper end and to repeat, I like having that capability even if I don't plan to use it often.

Duh, I just found the intro subsection.  Administrator, please feel free to move this to the appropriate spot.  Thanks and apologies.

I am more inclined to just change your username to "thirteen"

Just kidding!

Welcome aboard.  We will let this thread stand.  Guys do it both ways, and we don't get to bent about it.

Yes, I'm glad to have joined.  The Benchrist list of loads (well over 400, I believe) is invaluable.  That'll save me some time at the range experimenting on my own.

The 10mm is just one of many interests I have in guns.
