Reminds me of when I took my then 17 year old sister-in-law shooting the first time.  We shot 22's for a while.  Then I got out my .410 Stevens single shot.  It was my first gun.  After I took a shot or two she wanted a go.  I advised her to keep the gun tight against her shoulder, but she ingored me.  Later she said that it just seemed to her she wouldn't want the buttstock right against her arm when it went off.

So, the trigger was pulled while the gun was a good 4" off her shoulder.  OUch......

She did learn.  I felt very bad.  I am something of a joker, which is why she didn't take my advice.  My wife and I had only been married about 6 months at the time and I still didn't know the her sister all that well.

I let her know very clearly that while I do joke and play practical jokes, I never joke about guns.
