Seems like a pretty big collection of ordinary guns. This link has more pics https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7009847/Multi-million-dollar-Bel-Air-gun-haul-mansion-belongs-billionaire-Getty-scions-former-mistress.html
Makes me wonder if the California mentality is making this a crime, rather than there actually being one. DM article says there was "gun making" equipment at the the house and gun sales going on. NBC article says something about giving, lending, or selling an assault weapon.

California has special rules for guns that look dangerous, and the rules are constantly changing.  Makes it hard to be a gun enthusiast and stay on the right side of their rules.

My guess is they guy would build AR, probably from 80% lowers, and some element of that activity crossed some CA specific boundary.

Stories like this also make it clear what some peoples reaction would be to my gun safe.

Ditto, as well as the stories about having a couple thousand rounds of ammo. Big deal, I have a couple thousand .22Lr at any given time, as well as ammo for all the other calibers I shoot.

I live adjacent to a very affluent community. On more than one occasion I've met people with close to 1000 guns in their collection, some with more. When I was still in high school I was at a retired army general's 10,000sq/ft mansion that had one continuous two tiered gun rack all the way around the finished basement. The general and I actually hit it off pretty well as his kid wasn't interested in them and I knew what most of them were.

The guy was maybe or maybe not guilty of committing a crime(s).  Sounds like he's got enough dough to afford a good lawyer(s) and the state will have to prove its case.

However, the b.s. outrage or confusion about how someone in the US could accumulating any number of LEAGAL firearms is a liberal circle jerk.  The affluence of the neighborhood has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Anyone know what the state or federal quantity limit is?  NBC didn't publish it cause it doesn't exist anywhere outside their biased point of view.

What's the maximum allowable number of waffle irons?  Forks? Hammers? Baseball bats? TVs?  Laptops? Cheese wiz?  Coat hangers?  Steak knives?

Rojo27, I agree with you. The only reasons I mentioned the affluence in my comment was, that it's a fact in the story, and that affluent people tend to have enough money to have large collections of many things. It's by no means a right reserved only for the rich.

There was a woman interviewed who made a point (ignorant & stupid) that "there's a school nearby".  Ya? Whats that got to do with anything?

Seems to me that theres something more than just a "collection" involved here. Can't wait to hear the story unfold.

If it is just a collection, don't expect any follow up stories from the MSM. The Daily Mail pictures are a little better than what NBC offers.

The Boy Scout Edition Ruger 10/22 looked really scary. I only saw one AR and it had pink camo. Looks like there were a couple of Sharps rifles and some older lever guns. Just doesn't look like what a person would accumulate it they were intending to do something illegal. Another news source described there being modern guns to some dating to the civil war.

No offense taken Greybeard!  Like you, I was simply referencing the storiy's  clear subtext about the famous neighborhood, average house cost, celebrity proximity, etc. that independant of specific  criminal activity means absolutely nothing beyond this dude lives in the USA.
Say what?  Super rich people have lots of disposable income to spend on whatever suits their fancy?
Get out!  You don't say!!!!!!

The farcical handwringing is beyond absurd.  However that's the snow flake world we apparently live in now.  OMG this whole story has triggered me; I need to find a safe place to call my therapist and express my feelings :o!

:)) :D
