Double Tap rifle ammo

Anybody have any experience with it. Looking at the 300 Savage 165 gr the price is keeping me from trying it. Hunting elk now so looking for a heavier load than 150 gr and my 99 doesn't like Fedral 180 gr.

Most people will agree that Double Tap ammo does not live up to it's claims.
As to your .300 Savage, 150 grain bullets seem to be the preference in a Model 99. That's not to say a 180 won't work, but the 150's seem to work better. My Model 99 will not shoot ANY factory 180's with any accuracy- it's a handload only proposition for that weight. And then again, I've killed 1 Oregon Coast elk and 1 Idaho elk with my 99. I used Hornady Superformance 150 grain SST ammo for one hunt and my 150 grain handloads for the other. Both were 1 shot kills.

Don't ignore the 150 grain ammo- it's what most Model 99s like, and it's a very potent cartridge if you do your part.

Thanks for the info I have always shot 150 grains in my 99 for deer.  It doesn't really care what brand it shoots them all about the same 1-1/4" groups at 100 yards. think I will give  Hornaday a try
