Anyone here have firsthand experience with the Colt/Walther .22 1911

I have a female friend that is new to shooting. She absolutely loves my 1911 .22 as it's a nice practice alternative to her 9mm 1911. Mine is an Essex frame with a Ciener platinum kit and Wilson trigger/parts. Money wise the Colt makes more sense for her, if it's a decent gun. Especially if the trigger can be upgraded with aftermarket 1911 parts, if necessary.

Any thoughts/help is appreciated.

Hi Graybeard,
I have one and really like it. I've replaced a few parts.
•   Grips
•   MSH (arched)
•   Hammer
•   Grip Safety
•   Trigger
It functions as well as any semi auto 22, meaning your ammo selection will affect its reliability.
The barrel is fixed and the accuracy is very good. The gun is a joy to shoot and a big hit with new shooters, in fact I let my 8 year old shoot it. That is the purpose of this of this pistol, bring smiles to faces.

To expand on the aftermarket 1911 parts...

Many parts on the Colt/Walther .22 are standard 1911. The look I'm going for is a Colt Ace. That's the reason I choose the parts I did. They were all OEM Colt take off parts that I got from a LGS.

Has she looked into a .22 conversion kit for her current pistol?  No need to learn a new trigger.

That was actually my first suggestion to her, as well. I think she wants to add to her collection of one gun . I taught her how to shoot about a year ago.
