Who here has a Desert Eagle? I am sure I have brought this up on previous posts, but I want one in the worst way. So I have decided to start putting money aside to get one. I had a 357 Mag in the past. Someone offered me more than I paid for it so I let it go. Been kicking myself ever since. But I am thinking I want either 44 Mag or 50 AE.  I dont plan on doing anything with this other than putting big holes in paper and ringing steel. I may take it out hunting a few times just because. My time line of purchase is by spring.

I want the 50. But earlier this year when I decided to jump into the 6.5 CM I learned this may not be the best time to start a new caliber. On one hand if I start buying the stuff I need and a box of ammo here and there, I may have ammo to shoot by the time Im ready to get the DE. Instead of like the Creedmoor buying everything all at once as I found it. Ive found brass at decent prices on gunbroker and fleet farm always has the Hornady 50AE bullets.

OR on the other hand do I get 44 Mag simply because I am already loading and feeding a 44 Mag.

Who has one and how do they shoot. Whats your thoughts.

With some shame....

I have a Desert Eagle.  Basic black parkerized version in 50 AE.  I also have a 429 DE barrel and a 44 Mag barrel/bolt for the gun.

It is excessive in the extreme. Shooting a shot or two is big fun.  Shooting an entire magazine of full power 50 AE ammo can turn a grin into a grimace, at least for me.

I would never sell mine.  But it is very much not practical.  I can't really think of a role it fills well other than crazy extreme.

Absolutely, the .357, or 44 mag would be my choice if I were to get one

If you are going to get one, definitely get the 50 AE and then add the 44 mag conversion.  That 50 AE blast is a blast!

I have not shot the 429 DE barrel yet.  Just haven't had time.

I have a 44 mag that I rarely shoot. I don't know if it is because of that uncomfortable fat grip or because I didn't get the 50 being the most badazz. I much prefer shooting my Auto Mags (44's) and Wildey's (45 WM and 475 Wildey).

I once had a 357 DE and really liked it. Wish I never sold it. Actually, it never sold; someone stole it from the place I had it on consignment, but they made it up to me.

Anyway, being a gun guy, I just felt that I HAD to have a DE in my collection; so I understand having to scratch that itch.

Edit, sorry about the question marks, the program put those in, it would not correct it.

The question marks come from microsoft "smart" quotes.  They most often occur when users created their post in word, wordpad or some other MS product and then paste here.  They may be default for certain MS browsers as well.

We are working towards a possible fix to bring back support for this, but we are being a bit circumspect about the database at least for a little while given the recent upgrade gone awry.

Thanks  sqlbullet, was wondering about that also

Thanks for fixing the question marks.

You can add Apple to the list as well, I only use an IPad.
