I've been looking for a "cheap" red dot to put on my 10mm AR carbine and the reviews I have seen of these have been pretty good and was wondering if anyone else has been using the sig romeo 5?

Battery life seems to be good.  It should be lighter than the other cheap red dot and mount that I have on the gun now.

Just wondering if anyone else here is using one and what their opinion is of it.  I'm nearing the point of making a decision come payday whether to get it or the solar powered vism and was just asking for some opinions.

I think they are excellent. I have 5 of them.

Thank you very much for the reply.

I ended up buying one.

Or, at least I thought I did.

What I ended up getting was a counterfeit. paypal refunded the money so I don't have anything in it, but that's left somewhat of bad vibes about it.

The optic seemed nice.  But, no way of really trusting it with questionable quality.  Even the holographic sticker on the box was correct.

But, sig verified that it was a knockoff.  They even provided copies of pictures of the differences of the real one vs the fake, so it's common enough problem, has caught their attention.

They are a great red dot, I have 5 or 6 of them as well. Make sure you purchase through a good dealer rather than Ebay. I think I've bought most of them from Aim, PSA, or right from Sig when they have a good sale.

Highly recommend them.  Got 3 of them on rifle & PCCs.

If part of a late-night chopper insertion into the Hindu Kush, there are far better options.  But for plinking, home defense or a little tactical shooting class or play at the range; the Romeo 5 is as good a bang for the buck red dot as you'll find IMO.
