I was in to pick up my Limited and a guy that had just come in asked about a pick-up. The counter guy said "yea a replacement". The conversation went back and forth a bit with the guy telling the story and it got me interested so I chimed in. The pistol was a Ruger SR-40 and had a kaboom! Props to Ruger because they replaced the entire gun! I can vouch personally for how good they are in this area. If they made a 10mm I would own it!

The owner said it blew the entire bottom portion to pieces. He said it was the Winchester white box ammo though! One of the primers in a round behind the one being extracted went off. He said the primer was sticking out too much. No bad injuries but he said his hand hurt bad for a while.

This really makes me want to use my gloves at all times. It seems if you shoot enough something like this WILL happen and it could be any ammo! It's not as nice as bare skin feel but safety is key.

Not the first Win White Box incident I heard of, there was some with 9mm if I recall... ???

I have not liked the quality of the 9mm white box I have used. I have been avoiding it for a while now. I will continue after hearing this. But, this is a lesson I have learned with other ammo. Always inspect every individual round before loading into a firearm no matter the source of the ammo. Intercooler, thanks for posting this.

The only Winchester white I have is 124gr NATO from last year. Nothing made since the panic buying.

Awesome that Ruger replaced it with a brand new gun, even though the issue wasn't an issue with the gun.

No doubt plenty of ammo over time has left ammo factories (including ALL this big names) loaded improperly one way or another.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.
