10mm Hard Cast

Could some one please explain to me the real world difference in the 220 UW/BB Hard Cast and Double-Tap/Beartooth 200 Gr Hard Cast Bullet. There is some frontal area difference but will it really make that big of a difference?

The DT's cast bullets are usually a gas checked projectiles...

Although the gas check is not totally necessary, it can help protect the edges of the bullet and bore from leading.  Proper bullet size (0.0015" - 0.0020") overbore diameter is the most important element to stability and less leading along with quality lube.

Nothing beats proper impact placement, to reach vitals on its track through the intended target!

  I suppose the Beartooth bullet is a little better with the Meplat and gas check. It will still go through a bunch of horse meat  If PBR gets their version of it loaded up those would be better yet! The 220's should drive a little deeper with the increased weight. What are you gearing up for?

I have a local source of 200gr Beartooth loaded to about 1150 FPS,Granite Ammo. Both loads shoot well for me and I can get the beartooths for 38.00 per 50 or go with UW for 39.99 plus shipping. Just trying to see in real world application if the UW would be better for woods carry.

I'll make one comment that may apply.

I have a Gen4 Glock 20 that now eats everything EXCEPT Underwood 220 hard cast that might hit 50% FTF.  If your running one, that might be a deciding factor.

    I think your local connection is a darn good one and no shipping. Kevin has been asked about offering the 200gr Beartooth and the Barnes all copper lines. Hopefully we see those in the not too distant future.

  When I spoke with the guy at Granite he sounded like a great 10mm guy (hey... he owns a Match!). I would imagine he would load up the 220's for you to a similar loading we have in the archives here. All that would be needed is purchasing the Rimrock 220's for him.

On another note, do we have any idea when Underwood will be getting the 165 grain tmj's back in stock?

If you could carry anything you wanted and over penetration didnt matter would these wide meplat beartooth 200gr hardcasts be the best stopper even when compared to say a 200gr xtp?
