9 year old shot instructor

  Did anyone see this? It was an accident with an Uzi in full auto. I always wince and sometimes don't shoot when I see youngsters at the range.

Yes I was hearing about it earlier, the youth lost control of it in full auto mode...striking the instructor fatally.

From what I saw, the instructor failed to maintain a hand on the weapon "Just in Case"

Anytime I have been somewhere like that type of place, the instructor maintained a hand on the weapon until it was shown the child had a good solid grip, and was not going to panic, usually after loading a 2nd magazine.

From the video, it looked like she didn't have a good grip with her forehand, and the uzi twisted and skimmed along her forearm. Probably rose upward when it came to her upper hand. I could not tell if the muzzly simply rose upward and left.

Its sad the instructor died, but I cant  help but feel worse for the kid....thats alot for anyone to live with, much less such a young child....

What a terrible and tragic accident. I am just getting well enough physically, to where I will be taking my own eleven year old daughter to the range again. It's something that we've been looking forward to for almost 2 years now, and we have been going over safe firearm handling on a daily basis, in preparation for our return to the range. This accident really shows just how quickly things can go from fun to fatal, especially when we let our attention lapse, even if only for a second, when handling firearms. My family's prayers go out to the instructor's family, and to that little girl and her parents.

   Very true. In most cases including the ones I see at my own range, it's the ones doing the instructing giving a young person a caliber or firearm they clearly aren't ready for. I will never forget the Father at my range giving his Daughter a .22 and then after one magazine putting a Beretta 9mm in her hands. She was coming almost under her chin every shot and when it hung up she was waffling it around. Enough for me to immediately leave the area until they were done!
