Gel test: S&B less lethal 12 ga ammo

Just for fun. Sellier & Bellot less lethal rubber buckshot and rubber slug are fired into calibrated 10% ballistic gelatin. Not sure I can figure out a poll for this one, but feel free to make predictions before you watch the video.

Kind of interesting.  I wonder how using this stuff sits with tactical trainers who almost universally say fire until the threat is over?  The police I know almost all say you are better off killing and intruder rather than just wounding??

That does not look like it would be very fun. I can't think of any first hand accounts of this stuff being used, wonder what it's like. Off to the web I go!

I'm no expert, but I think that any private citizen who tried to use a less lethal option would have a difficult time justifying it. The problem is a sort of Catch 22. The use of any firearm, regardless of the ammunition choice is considered to be a lethal level of force in most jurisdictions. To use that level of force, one has to be able to articulate a credible threat of grievous bodily harm or death to themselves or someone else. Using ammunition that is not capable of physically incapacitating someone undermines the argument that they had no other choice than to use deadly physical force.

I agree I wouldn't use these loads on someone in my house. I would use them to keep problem critters out of my garden and or food plots. Might have to get some rubber buckshot and see how they pattern.
