Blue Suede Shoes (No, really). How many men do you know that can get by with wearing a pair of old-school "kicks" such as these?

Other than the bad link, Me, our grown daughters would have No end of fun razing me about them...Love stuff like that 😀

rust me, they're going to be a "kick in the head" to wear. I want to wear them with my usual "summer garb" (including my Panama and paper-straw "porkpie" hats). Black slacks, white silk sports jacket, light blue or white dress shirt.

Dressing like a mature adult male and not looking as if I have been "pulled from a drainpipe" has its advantages.

Lol, not according to my wife and kids, but hey, I love that kind of attire...as long as I don't leave the property my wife tells me 😄

I commonly wear the Old Beatles style sunglasses. The ones with rectangular lens and dark blue in color. I think I bought them for like 25 bucks online years ago. Next to them in the truck is a $350.00 pair of Serengeti sunglasses that are near worthless by comparison. I wear penny loafers too except at the ranch where if it doesn't sting, it sticks or stinks. I guess I could get the wife to peg some jeans and see if I could find some Brylcream, a little dab will do ya. Or maybe a flat top haircut with some Four Roses. On second thought, the Four Roses would attract bees and I don't need a swarm tryin' to set on my head.

Brylcreem, Lol, I love it 😂

Captain O

They still make Brylcreem, but I use Vitalis and also use Clubman After Shave.  8) ;D

I'll be heading to Tijuana on January 8th on the Greydog and will arrive in San Diego at 1755 hours the next day. A 75-foot walk to the SanDiego trolley and another 50-minute ride to San Ysidro where I'll cross the border to reach my Hotel room for a six-night stay.

Sun, surf, cheap Chinese and Mexican food for five straight days. I may even take my Blue Suede Shoes with me.  ;)

Cool beans, eh?

Jeez Cappy, I had you figured out to be an Old Spice kinda guy.

Captain O

I used to wear "Old Spice" (like daddy did) but I have become fond of Clubman and Aqua Velva type after-shave lotions.

Believe it, or not, Tijuana has an "old school" kind of "cool" to it. I have friends that run stores on Revolution Avenue and I enjoy Tijuana Beach (Playa de Tijuana). If you make friends and treat people there with kindness and due courtesy, doors open all over town. (I refused to be conned, and that garners a modicum of respect).

Trust me, It is nice to have friends in other nations.

My only experience With Tijuana was living in san diego for a year or so in the early 80's. We would head down to Tijuana (30 miles from home) once and awhile for some south of the border fun. I think the best part was lining our socks with M200 fire crackers (or so they were called), aprx a quarter stick of dynamite, and bring them back home. We would put one of these under a steel garage can and WOW, it would launch that can a good 30 plus feet in the air...sure wouldn't try that these days 😀

Captain O

I was there from August 19th through the 26th. I'll be there from 1/9/2020 through 1/25/2020. (I'll be headed back the morning of the 26th).
I don't drink, smoke or use "recreational drugs" of any kind. I'm there for the food, the fireworks, the beach, and the museums and other wholesome entertainment. Yes, I'll set off the firecrackers on Tijuana Beach (Playa de Tijuana). I will do everything legally so that I can have a good time and stay out of trouble. There are some fragrances (Eau de Cologne) that I can buy at bargain-basement prices and bring them here. (Good stuff, Maynard)!

Yep, staying out of trouble is a good thing, funny how we (most of us) wise up as we get older. I've never been a drug guy (oh wait, kind of a pot head in high school) but never inhaled : ), or participated in any of the other  shenanigans some of my so called friends did. Hunting fishing and camping pretty much sums up my younger years. Have been married now for 29 years and wouldn't trade it for the world 😊

Captain O

On December 1st, at 0630 hours I'll turn 65 years old. It is amazing how much I have learned to enjoy the simple things in life. No wife, happy life. I have so much more to do before I "cash in my chips". "Playing it cool" is the best bet. No headaches, no encumberments. It keeps getting better.  ;) 8)

Well, when the rubber meets the road, happiness with one's life, and the desire to move forward is paramount, however I couldn't imagine being single; and yes, my wife can be a pain in my a##, but in all fairness, I am probably a bigger pain in hers : )
