Fits really good and can't wait to try it!

It looks like I have enough room to possibly squeeze a 50 on there.

I was just informed, I can buy some Mosin Nagants, new with bayonet for $150...is that a good price?

I don't know where they are on pricing currently. When I purchased this one it was $169 with the Monte Carlo stock conversion new. They did all the work of fitting, plus shipped the stock wood setup, bayonet and cleaning kit.

I remember them as $99 rifles and it looks like that might still be the case:

These may be a local FTF sale and thus no transfer fees or shipping charges being tacked on.  I'm going to investigate them further.

I thought you have a Mosin or are you looking to Sporterize?

The_Shadow

No I don't have one, someone I know has offered to sell some of his.  I am waiting to see what he has to offer.  I know that they can be some good shooting rifles and the ammo used to be fairly cheap....However you know me I'm a handloader and would want to roll my own stuff and that may cost more, as I would need dies and some other things to provide that option.

They are a must own! I shoot the spam can stuff .18-.20/round and love it! For heavy duty shooting at a cheap cost they can't be beat. Including the purchase with everything here I have about $700 in it. The ammo savings though makes that look nice  8)

I went this way with the stock, I got mine for about $149. http://www.archangelmanufacturing.com/new-products-2013/

I also got the set trigger. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/559350/timney-trigger-mosin-nagant-1-1-2-to-4-lb-steel-matte?cm_vc=ProductFinding

I have yet to bend the bolt or add a scope mount, but was leaning toward Rock solid.

Yea. That stock wasn't out when I started mine or I probably would have gone that route, although it is kind of funky looking!  :o The trigger is awesome from what I hear but expensive. On YouTube you can find videos of working the stock piece into something better for basically nothing invested. It's never really bothered me in shooting though.

The RS mount is the only way to go! Like I learned here if you look back at my progression the bent bolt won't work with it. You have to run their cut and welded piece to clear the slot for bolt retraction. That was $80 wasted!  ???

I was planning on getting the RS set, Mount and Bolt at the same time. Just to many other guns and projects have kept me from doing it.
I guess I was going to see what it would do, with the regular sights first. If it would ever warm up again, I will have to take it out.

The regular sights worked good for me. I can't really buy much as far as firearms now, so I figured it was time to wrap this project up.

I use it in the woods. Prvi brass soft tips and priced nice. Spam for target. Id like to get one with orig scope someday. They are hard to come by now.

I picked up mine a couple of years back in a group buy.  I think in the group we ended up with a little over four 20-gun crates.

We bought through AIM surplus.  At that time with a group discount we ended up around $70 a rifle + ffl fees.  The FFL we used cut us a deal of $15 flat fee up to five rifles, $10 a rifle for each one past the first 5.  I bought four, and have wished ever since I had bought 8.

It looks like they are now up around $130.  No reason not to grab the ones from classic firearms for $99.  All mine have character.

You ought to get one Shadow, they're loads of fun and fairly cheap as mentioned! pacapcop is right, the PPU boxer primed brass stuff is pretty reasonable and shoots well, 150g softpoints can be had for <15$ per 20 and I believe they sell a 180g load too. The spam can stuff is fun to shoot also, just a PITA to clean! I've attached a pic, 2 Chinese Type 53 (m44 copy) and the upper one is a 91/30 that I cut a couple inches off of, debating chopping another 5 or 6inches. 91/30 was $130 and the 53's were $99 a piece when jgsales had them on sale. The one type 53 thats missing the bolt belongs to a family member but had to include it! (the bolt thats in the 91/30 belongs in his gun but shhh, just swapped for the pic, haven't made a bent bolt for mine yet)

Intercooler, you're rifle looks pretty nice. I bought the same rock solid mount for mine but decided to go the "scout" route. How to you like the Bushnell Banner? They've got great reviews and I've often thought about one.
