No work at all to barrel and extractor. The only thing I did was put in a 22 pound RSA, which worked fine with the Underwood.

Chances are it could have been a fluke. Perhaps I will find out if / when I shoot the remaining 200 rounds.

It wouldn't hurt to polish the hood and ramp.

I could think about it. I just don't know how that would affect the tennifer finish, or melonite, or whatever they are calling it now. Recall this is my backup weapon when hunting predators at night, and it will be exposed to the elements more than most other handguns I have.

I know you are trying to help. Thanks just the same.

They put that coating on the barrel? I thought that was only the slide?

4949shooter

The treatment is on all the metal parts that are not Teflon coated (barrel, slide, extractor). It actually is absorbed into the pores of the metal.

If the Underwood works for you just keep that as your carry ammo. The rest is just range fodder especially if it wont function 100% of the time. What do you carry in it when you hunt? 200 Gr XTP or 220 Grain hardcast?

4949shooter

I have carried 200 grain XTP as well as 180 grain XTP in the woods. Eventually, I would like to switch over to a full metal jacket or hard cast load, something with deeper penetration.

Trophy Bond might be a good one for you then.

Old topic new thread. Does anybody shoot this with an aftermarket barrel? I cannot get Underwood to function of out my six inch stormlake barrel to save my life. Only way that stuff gets close to 100% is nearly stock form but with a 22 lb recoil spring.

n2horns

165 underwood HP and FMJ from standard length kkm barrel, no issues.
