165 grain Velocity Supreme FMJ:

As you can see from the pics, the ammo is packed loose in the boxes, which are heavy card board. The brass is Starline. The ammo is nice and shiny, and clean.  The shipping from Underwood was cheaper coming from Maryland to NJ. The PBR is coming from Texas thus the shipping was $5 more.

I plan to try it out this weekend in my Glock 20 SF. I will be sure to give a report on how it shoots if I do.

Worked great out of Gen 3 with 165's.

Thanks. Did you fire any Underwood 165 grain? I am wondering if there was a noticeable difference.

The_Shadow

That's the same stuff like Chucky2 sent me to test, I did the pull-down and tested it from my G-20SF even trying to induce a failure and it ran perfectly.

Test results in comments afterwards...

Thanks Shadow. I am looking forward to trying it this weekend.

Is that with your discount? Underwood is in Illinois now.

You can save a little more at PBR if you use a business address.

4949shooter

Yes, which helped defray (some of) the cost of the shipping.

I didn't realize Underwood had moved to Illinois, but they still only charged me $14.51 for shipping for my last order, which was on April 23.

I spoke to Anthony on the phone, and he didn't say anything about shipping to a business address, though he seemed busy.

Intercooler

If the address you enter is listed as a business the FedEx system will pick it up. That's what Anthony said.

Yep, same stuff I sent to The_Shadow to see if it FTF is his Gen3 like it does in my Gen4 - it didn't.

Be interesting to see how it does in yours.

And, that is news that Underwood moved to IL!  Given the IL'ness that is IL, I can't believe he chose that over, say, Indy area.  He at least chose the nicer region of IL, lots of good people down there...also I think the prettiest area of IL.

Well, I got to the range today and fired 100 rounds of the PBR. Disappointingly, I had one failure to extract with this ammo and one slide lock back on the last round.  :(

I have 200 rounds of it left, which I will probably just shoot up on the range. I was hoping for better results. The Underwood 165 grain has been flawless. I don't know what the differences are, but I will stick with them for carry ammo.

Intercooler

Which PBR rounds were you running? It's not the ammo causing the issues and I will swap you something else if it helps you. Could be something in your setup doesn't agree with it. I wish I could help you figure it out, but every 10mm I own eats them all up and spits them out. Possibly something might be wore and in need of attention?

4949shooter

It was the above 165 grain velocity supreme. I don't know...the Underwood 165 grain stuff runs flawless through my setup. The Underwood might be slightly hotter going by the sheet, but the PBR still should have worked.

Intercooler

Yes it should. Those ran fine for The Shadow as well in his Glock. How much work if any have you done on your barrel and extractor?

4949shooter

No work at all to barrel and extractor. The only thing I did was put in a 22 pound RSA, which worked fine with the Underwood.

Chances are it could have been a fluke. Perhaps I will find out if / when I shoot the remaining 200 rounds.
