9mm, 9X23 or 38 SuperComp

Per my other thread, I have a new to me 1911 in 9mm.

TBH, I have always thought a 1911 in 9mm was a curiosity. If I want a SA Auto in 9mm the Hi-Power is my go to.  I have a nice utility grade FN and it has a trigger just as good as my new 1911 9mm.  If I were going to carry a nine, the HiPower is lighter, has 5 more rounds and shoots just as well.

It seems to me a 1911 with a .35 bore should be in 38 Super or 9X23. I have a 38 Super Witness, and have several thousand Starline 38 Super Comp brass on hand. It seems like a natural fit to get a 38 Super barrel for this gun.

OTOH, 9X23 offers a tiny advantage over 38 Super Comp on paper.  I have read conflicting information about the safety of loading 38 Super Comp brass to 9X23 pressure - Some say your are  a loon if you do, others say it is fine.  Going 9X23 would eliminate the question, but would add another caliber to my already complicated list of cartridges I load and shoot.

So, thoughts?  Leave it alone and enjoy it as a range gun?  Get a 38 Super Barrel and load hot?  Just add more logistics challenges to my life?

Anyone shoot 9X23 and have feelings about it?  Anyone shoot super hot 38 Super Comp and have feedback?

Both 9x23 and 38Super are interesting cartridges for your project.

One of the things I liked about the 10mm pistols is that the case heads of 40S&W, 357Sig and the 9x25Dillon work quite well from the pistols with conversion barrels chambered for each.

Surprised no one is offering a 224BOZ (10mm necked to 0.224") conversion for the 10mm pistols.  it would also require dies.  That would be another interesting cartridge to work with.

There was also one very similar to the Rock Island 22TCM which is a 9mm case necked down to 224"
Here is a picture of it next to the 224BOZ 10mm and below is the 9mm cased one

As I recall the BOZ pistols had to have a breechface insert.  The boz would wear out a breech face on the slide so making them a replaceable insert allowed them to replace a wear part.

The TCM has also been in the back of my mind, but mainly as Armscor/RIA sells it in a convertible set with a 9mm barrel and a high cap frame.  That gun was kinda in the back of my mind as my next "project" and I was watching several on GB over the last weeks.  My limit was $450 all in.  I came close on an auction two weeks ago...It sold for $400. My max bid was $375.  Of course, if I had kept bidding no idea how high it would go.  There is a "Buy Now" for $549, which is probably fair, but way over my budget.

The TCM and Boz both seem to require a barrel ramp, which would require major changes to my frame ramped 1911 that are out of budget scope.
