That's kind of argueable yet IMO.  Well, unless you're looking for shotgun or blackpowder stuff.

QuotePrimers really haven't been near the problem they were the last time.
How is none available on a normal off the shelf retail store (online or not) better (handgun or rifle)?

I can get rifle or pistol any size in any one of three stores near me.  Sportsmans Warehouse always has Remington and Federal, Bob Wards has CCI and then Montana Outdoor Sports has CCI and lots of them and its hit and miss on a few other sporting good stores in the area.  If you are satisfied with berry's or HSM plated bullets they are available although not always in the weight you want.  Between the three stores listed above and a few others I can regularly find 800-x and Longshot.  This is what my comments of things turning around are based on.

You're lucky.  It's not that way everywhere yet.  Plus no XTP or GD anywhere yet.  Primers near to nonexistant as far as I've seen, though I only have interest in LP.  I have seen some 800-X at one place, but no Longshot yet.  But yeah, it largely depends on what a guy is looking for.  For me it's 10mm components only, and then I'm still very specific in what I want, for example I have zero interest at this time in any non premium bullet.  Glad things are looking up by you!  Hopefully it only gets better and doesn't take a near future swing back the other way yet.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

Really looks like things are on the up swing now.  Just went to one of my usual weekly stops at a local sporting goods store today.  They had the shelves stuffed as full as they could be with primers not many CCI mostly Federal and Remington but between the two you had your choice of any size primer you could want.  Also powder shelves were the same way had your choice of Longshot, 800-X, AA #9, AA #7 and any other Accurate or Ramshot powder you may want.  Nothing from Alliant but pretty much everything else was there.  As far as bullets that was the one disappointment not much other than Berry's plated, HSM plated, or HSM hardcast in .40 cal pistol.  No brass in the store but Midway still has new starline nickel available and has for a few days now.

Now the big question. Were the prices where they were before this all started or have they been adjusted upward due to the demand. I also am seeing more stock in places but the prices are the new day prices not what we had before. A box of bullets is up about 10.00 per box. Brass up about 5.00 per 100,powder up a bunch, primers up but not too bad and CCI primers nowhere to be found. But at least its out there but as I feared. Reloading components and factory ammo are up and will not be coming down. Just like gasoline model. Once you get it up and get everybody used to it just leave it there they will buy it.

Primers were $3.50-$4.00 per 100 which is what I was always able to find before depending on the brand.  Powder was $20-$24 per pound depending on the brand and type which I think is what it usually was.  I know 800-X was the cheapest at $20/ pound and Longshot/AA #9 were $24 per pound.  Bullets for the plated ones avaiable I don't think they have gone up.  HSM plated in the store is $35 per 250 which is what they were before.  Don't know on the premium bullets none to look at prices on yet.
