Thoughts on this .357 Magnum Brass Fetcher video and how it could relate to 10mm

Your thoughts on the winner and how that could relate to 10mm. For all that is 9mm! Kevin's little 115gr if I am reading this right would be amazing.

How do you see his formula and results in the 10mm offerings?

None of those were were really a bad loading/performance wise.  The JSP would have had a better performance expansion had it hit tougher media such as a heavy hog to cause it to flatten out some.

Gold Dots are a very good choice for bullet performance for all the reasons stated, and I would agree with them being a great SD or hunting performance bullet depending on how thick an animal you were trying to take down.

The 100% copper bullets were developed with the lead ban in mind in certain states, their performance will work for most deer or hog size game and SD.

Well getting to the 1724 fps number with the 125 gr is tough from a 4" barrel...That would be one that is worthy of being pulled down.

Hodgdon shows 1966 fps using 22.0 grains of H-110 / W296  from a 10" barrel  Top end load 41,400 CUP
Speer shows 1336 fps using 20.3 grains of H-110 / W296 from a 6" barrel
and also showed a 1500 fps using Vihtavuori N-110 from a 6" barrel

Did you catch the part about basically shooting the most you can control?

Yes, Isn't that why we choose the 10mm!  I carried my 357 mag long before I got the 10mm, but then carried the 10mm ever since.  So running the 135's @ 1600 fps, 155's @ 1500 fps, 165's @ 1400, 180's @ 1300 fps and the 200's @ 1250 fps are very capable and carry a larger frontal area especially the Gold dots where available.   ;D

I just wish I could score some Gold Dot bullets, they have been scarce for a long time!  :-[

The nice thing about the 10mm is it mimics or exceeds the famed .357 magnum 125 grain ballistics, all in a semi auto platform.

That is between 9 and sixteen rounds depending upon the auto, as compared to 6 in a revolver.

Intercooler,

If you are referring to Underwoods 9mm Gold Dot +P+ loads, TNOUTDOORS9 tested all 3 of them. The 115 gr expanded dramatically, but only penetrated 9".  The 124gr & 147gr had more penetration of course. Although, all 3 had less penetration than I would prefer for a defense load. I prefer penetration first & expansion second. However, it always depends on your threat. If it is a skinny guy like me, then that expansion becomes much more important. I just want to have more insurance with the really big guys that I occasionally dealt with while I still worked in law enforcement. For some of those guys, I would prefer something like Underwood's 10mm loading of the 200gr XTP, 180gr Gold Dot, or Hornady's loading of their 180gr XTP or a if it is a 9mm Underwood's 147 gr XTP.

I was making reference to Kevin's 9mm +P+ which was almost 1" expanded  :o but also what he said about shooting the most you can handle. Many people want things slowed down to get the penetration but also the expansion. If you go by what Brass Fetcher said regardless of which caliber you have in your hand the highest velocity/energy is the King.
